***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

I noticed a while ago when I played Xmen:First Class (blu ray) on my PS3 it came up with an option of transfering to a Vita (which I didnt have at the time) Im at work right now and so can't do it or check but does anyone know how large these videos would be. I have loads of triple play blu-rays that have digital copies and wouldnt mind having them on the Vita.

Any ideas?

Well if it does an full transfer and doesnt compress id say your eaisly looking at 10GB+

If it compress it im guessing it does it by a considerable amount so quality might not be that good?

8gb card sounds like its too small, 16gb is quite pricey... 32gb available from some dodgy outlet... its a minefield and ive 1 leg left, how do I get across safely?
For the time being this depends almost entirely on whether you intend to purchase games digitally or via retail.

The 4gb I would say is too small and would soon need to be upgraded no matter what, shouldn't really exist tbh. I went for the 8gb (at the time mainly because there were no 16gb in stock) but I can't see me needing to move to 16gb for some time because with the current model I see absolutely no value in going digital over retail.

I don't mind having the choice though, it's the same with 3g v wifi, some will find the 3g essential, others useless. Work out where you stand and go from there.

Really? It doesn't look amazing to be honest. I haven't played on one. Watched a few reviews and seems like a bit of a money trap at the moment.

It's a fine machine, although I feel slightly underqualified in giving an evaluation as I've played Lumines almost exclusively since I got the thing. Never played any of the previous games but after putting many hours into this one I feel it's almost on par with classic Tetris, which is an achievement because I don't think any other puzzle game of this style has come even close to Tetris.

after playing most of the demo's i have to say rayman seems to be the game i am wanting, even more then uncharted.I got fifa with my vita but rayman was the demo i enjoyed the most

I had FFIV the collection on my PSN. So I wacked that on my PSV. ZOMG looks really shiny on the PSV, really enjoying playing FFIV again. So many great games that were on the PSP I had completely fogotten about tbh.

I just need FF7:Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep to appear on the PSN and I will be in heaven !

I gave it a quick go before work and it kinda reminded me off world of illusion, I'm sure i'd enjoy and so would my daughter.

1- No, it should pull the rated voltage and current at its peak.

2- Thanks for checking, most USB chargers will only be rated at 500mA and the circuitry to control it often doesn't function correctly (see all Duracell USB output AA chargers for example). On the plus side, 1A is very common for the dedicated iPad branded chargers! Most modern USB 2.0 ports should be perfectly fine too if that is the max draw.

At the weekend when it's quiet at work (been off for 4 days) I'm going to do some more tests to see what it draws from a USB port and from the mains.

The portable charger I have has a rated output of 5v @ 1A so I'm wondering if the circuitry in it is restricting the flow to 1A or if the Vita is only asking for 1A.

It's a fair heft of a charger though :D

well, this thread normally is helpful and quicker than ‘reading the manual’. thank you though for the input, i found it helpful.

It was a genuine question. I haven't checked mine and I'm not near it, but the answer should be in there.

If so, it would have been far quicker than even typing your question assuming you have it nearby.

For future reference, the online user guide is in the FAQ on the first page :)

Are the PS1 games that were on the PSN store for the PSP not available for the Vita? I can't seem to find FF VIII :(

I was hoping to use my Duracell AA charger (4*3000mAh batteries) but no dice :(

Works fine for my Touchpad, Galaxy SII and 3DS though.

Only managed to actually get through one game of FIFA online so far, every other game its either lost connection to the EA server or crashed out with an application error.

it seems like a buggy pile of crap at the minute, the single player i am doing a fa cup and its been good fun but try playing it online and its awful. The first couple minutes when your playing online is great then you can just feel it getting laggy and worse as the match goes on.
