***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

No doubt it will work but you won't need to as you can plug your PSV into a PC anyway via USB.

(Or am I missing the point here?)

If you plug the Vita in to a PC while it is on it goes into data transfer mode and will not charge via USB. Once turned off it will.

The modification to the data pins on that USB adapter tells the Vita that it is connected to a power source and not a data source. As a result it will charge when on or off or in standby. With this mod, all I need with me is my USB cable and that adapter and I can get power anywhere with a USB port even while the Vita is on. As it is I carry my battery with me anyway.

On Monday/Tuesday a different adapter should arrive and I BELIEVE it might do what we need without any modification. Won't know until it turns up though so hold off on ordering anything.

Still need to get the other secret car for doing the Pitwall trophy then DBT? :p

Yep :( only had 4 times come up on the Pitwall that were faster than mine so far and one of them I can't beat yet! That's why I didn't set any glittering times on the latter events.

I imagine if you were to load the game up and set the best time possible on every track you'd never be able to get the pitwall trophy since nobody would be able to beat you in order for you to then beat them.

You can press Triangle on people in the pitwall to see what else they have posted, I checked in festival to see who was faster than me on what then went to the pitwall, checked there profile and looked to see if I could find the one they were faster than me on

Ahh thanks for that... will go have a look :)

My Vita charges when it's on and plugged into my PS3. Well my Vita was almost flat and I got a warning about charging it before restoring my Vita data onto my new memory card. I went a head and restored anyway and the battery level seem to fill back up slowly even though there was no indication of charging on the battery apart from it filling back up. Normally when connected to the mains my vita has like an eclectic pulse line going through the battery icon.

I tried the Rayman Origin trail and thought it was fantastic. I haven't bothered with platformers since my Gameboy Advanced days. does the game stay fantastically fun through out the entire game?

Just so you know, generally that is a very dangerous thing to do. Bridging of the D+ and D- (green/white) lines on a USB port indicates that the port is capable of delivering more than the usual 500mA @5v to the connected device. Most devices will attempt to draw up to 2.1A @5v when the lines are bridged, damaging the USB circuitry in the process (either immediately or over time in the case of a lot of portable chargers).

Handy to know. I'll get one of the engineers to put a meter across it tomorrow to see what it's pulling.

Will devices try to pull that 2.1A regardless of what they get from mains power for example? EG, the Vita has 1.2A @ 5V written on the back, and the mains charger says 1.5A at 5v on it.

EDIT: just remember I have a multimeter. Measured amps at 0.98 and Volts at 5.12.

My cradle arrived from Ebay today and my VIP case shipped from Amazon, good times.

Thought about getting a cradle myself but can't make up my mind. My VIP case was also shipped. Finally this weekend my Vita can go outside in safety!

DBT85, Just wiped my old Vita and deactivated its disappeared from Sony site was extremly quick!

Setting up the new one now just a question since you seem to know allot about the account settings etc. Regarding my PS3 i currently only have a 320GB Slim on the site it thinks i have a total of THREE PS3 now one of them will be my old 40GB Phat which i died and the other the 60GB i sold, Will sony unactivate them? If i ring as ive heard they may try charge me and im not willing to pay if they say i do have to

It seems to be luck of the draw mate. If you get a good person on the phone they'll do them for nothing, if not then they sometimes don't do it at all.

Your best bet is to call and ask.

I know i said i wasnt going to, but i have put a screen protector on.

Found some helicopter tape so stuck that on, cut to size, dip in soapy water align on screen and squeeze the water out.
This stuff keeps my bike scratch free so should do on the screen, best of all didnt cost anything.

You put water near it! Crazy person! even if you let it dry lol still seems odd protecters only a couple of pounds :p

Yep water and a drop of fairy liquid.
Not paying for something i already have, otherwise i wouldnt bother.

Probably the same stuff except when they sell it as screen protectors its double the price, i have around 3 meters of the stuff, its made by 3M.

1- No, it should pull the rated voltage and current at its peak.

2- Thanks for checking, most USB chargers will only be rated at 500mA and the circuitry to control it often doesn't function correctly (see all Duracell USB output AA chargers for example). On the plus side, 1A is very common for the dedicated iPad branded chargers! Most modern USB 2.0 ports should be perfectly fine too if that is the max draw.

Where are people buying theirs from then?

The best deal I can find is 219 for wifi with some pre order pack ie headphones and a 5 off a game - or 229 with FIFA... now I dont want FIFA at all, so that puts me off but if it sells 2nd hand then it might be worth it.

Dont game or anyone price match?
