***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

I travel a lot so having this on the Vita and the gf playing the PC version will be great.

First girl ive heard of playing PSO, I always figured it was a very male orientated game what with all the 'customisation' options on the newer Phantasy Star titles :D

Im not sure if its a good or bad thing but PSO 2 will be F2P, so it wouldn't hurt to get it on both platforms even if you rarely use it on one. It would save you getting a second copy to try and convince your gf to play(if she needs convincing)

After completing most of Rayman (don't like speed runs) I traded it in and got Everybody's Golf, really enjoying it :D

Also looking forward to this pinball game out on Wednesday and Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock!!!

Finished the two Motorstorm DLCs, I still hate the drift events but I set a couple of corking times on the final two. Back on days now so back to Rayman on the commute and on lunch.

My 3G seems to be having some issue. It's had a Dida Mobile sim in it for about 3 weeks and was working perfectly, now I just get some grey signal bars and a grey cross in the top left corner. No "No Signal" or "Dida Mobile" text at all. My account still has 2.9GB left on it for this month so it's an odd one.

Trying to find another sim/phone to work out if it is the sim or the Vita.

how does the 3g work im not to sure if i want it with the vita..any adivce people could give me wud be great :D

Theres a fair bit of info at the bottom of the very first post in the thread. Im assuming you still get wipeout if you get the 3g version, which is a quality game.

Q: Should I get the WiFi or 3G version
A: Ultimately the decision is yours and the 3G version does NOT have a contract. But if you already own a smartphone with a 3G connection you may see little point in buying the 3G version of the Vita unless there is some kind of bundle or deal or you have the money. You can instead use your phone as a WiFi hotspot and then tether your Vita to it. The 3G service on the Vita will have limits that essentially mean it is for social updates, skype and a-synchronous gaming (things like posting fastest laps, downloading daily challenges, posting high scores, downloading ghost laps, playing Everybodys Golf, turn based games, etc). You WILL NOT be able to play online head to head games like Fifa, Call of Duty, Wipeout etc over 3G. This is a limitation of 3G (latency) and not the Vita. You are not going to be able to download a game or large files via your 3G connection, this will be capped at 20mb max per file like many mobile phone contracts. There are however games which take into account location based data which is far more accurate on the 3G version since it has GPS. The WiFi unit does not.

If you buy the 3G vita and top up the included Vodafone sim card with £5 (getting you 250mb for 30 days) you will recieve Wipeout 2048 for free. This deal essentially means that the 3G version is now £25 more expensive than the WiFi rather than £50 which it is listed at.

I have ordered the 3G unit and a GiffGaff simcard to try out which will be cheaper than Vodafone.

where am able to get a vita for £160 i am really considering about gettin one and trading in my old psp lol :P
You can't get one for £160 (brand new). There was a 1 off deal, that involved cashback (quidco or topcashback) and a time limited money off voucher to reach that price. This offer expired.

The cheapest I see online is about £180 from a couple of places. I reckon it is about £210-ish with a game and a 4GB Memory card (the memory card is pretty much essential to save games). Amazon had the best launch bundles, I think they still do have the cheapest bundles, but shop around :)

You can use it to browse the web, upload some data (high scores/trophies) etc, on the move. As yet no "realtime action" based games support it, nor are likely to due to latency/bandwidth/reliability. There is also a feature called "Near" that uses 3G to share nearby player information and (largely) pointless in-game rewards. Personally I think it is confusing, doesn't work well and pointless :) But read up on Near before deciding. I think (3)DS has a similar feature, but I forget the name of it.

You do get the Wipeout game for free, but after you are already paying a £50 premium for the 3G model and the game is £25, not much of a saving. Also bear in mind that 3G will use more battery.

Apparently Street Fighter X Tekken will support online play via 3G so the FAQ does need changing.

I seriously doubt it will happen. The game has already been delayed on Vita and (by all accounts) Capcom struggled to get the online working well on the console versions, using much "faster"/reliable internet connections!! I expect it to be a scaled down (graphically) version of the console game, without head to head online and MAYBE some sort of turn based or collect icons/gems/players sub game, for 3G/Wifi players.

Just going by what Capcom have said at their trade show recently.

Street Fighter x Tekken on Vita isn't just a port of the console versions. Speaking at its Captivate event in Rome, Capcom confirmed that the Vita version will include twelve new playable characters. While the characters will eventually come to PlayStation 3 as downloadable content, players who connect their PlayStation 3 with their Vita will be able to unlock them immediately.

Even better: Vita players will be able to fight against PS3 players. Capcom revealed that cross-platform fights will be supported over 3G or WiFi, though whether or not performance will be affected remains to be seen (Capcom demoed the feature in a simulated environment rather than real-time).

The Vita version of SFxT is still early in development, and its feature set hasn't quite been defined. For now, Capcom showed off touch controls specific to Vita. Players will be able to make more intuitive color customization choices and navigate touch-specific menus. Examples of Vita-specific controls include shaking the system to randomize color customization options and touch controls during fights. Other Vita features including Augmented Reality, digital compass and Near support are also planned, though details haven't been revealed.

Details of the Vita version come on the heels of Capcom's continued support for Street Fighter x Tekken on consoles. Capcom plans a mix of free and paid DLC and title updates in the future, including new gems, new costume colors and a new patch to fix sound issues. An upcoming fix is also in the works for the game's much-maligned Infinity Combo exploits, though a specific time frame hasn't been announced.

I stand corrected :) I can see myself playing it online, albeit I suspect it will be a novelty that I would not do long term. Moreso because I mainly play on tube/train/bus where connectivity would be an issue!.

Might be the first Beat-em-up I buy on Vita, assuming a dedicated Tekken game (The PS3 downloadable one would be good) doesn't come out first or they sort out PS1 emulation in which case I would be all over Tekken 1,2,3 and probably the SF Alpha series!
