***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

I'm confused how these minis games will operate on VITA, considering they were designed for PSP/PS3 (both non touchscreen platforms)?

Nope. "When?" is the million dollar question. I am sure they could throw enough resources at it to have it working tomorrow (considering how few PS1 classics exist compared to the original disc games). Why they don't just enable this now, whilst there is a drought on new VITA games, is anybody's guess! The only reason I can think of is that most people will be wanting to play games they already bought on PS3/PSP which means no new money for Sony (I can think of other reasons, but this seems most likely imo).

Forgot I posted in here, thanks for the reply. When they have the emulation I'm in.

Has anyone here backed up there vita to there PC yet ??

Just started to back up mine and it takes ages :(

Took me no time at all, but I didnt have any music or videos on threre.

Thats backing up both a 4GB and a 32GB card with Rayman, MLB The Show, Motorstorm RC installed.

Been playing wipeout online, online mode is a bit random... Why no old school matchmaking also is cross play even working... Can never get a match...

i currenty have a psp (the older ones) and i was really looking forward to this coming out. when it has its the price of the consol and also the games. is it really worth getting or sud i stick with my old psp atm lol :P

It really depends on how much money you have...

IMO the consonle itself is very good all round, and there are a few awesome games out with a lot more average ones too... So if you don't mind paying out for just a few games then go for it. If you're looking for a bit more variety then maybe wait a bit.

One of the things that make the price tag a little harder to swallow is that most of the top rated games could be put out on mobile platforms no problem, games like motorstorm RC, rayman and that blob game... All score very highly but there's nothing in those games that could not have been done on a mobile phone... Wipeout on the other hand is a dream, I love it and the graphics ARE amazing.

Don't get me wrong I'm not badmouthing the other games I love rayman it looks awesome and plays excellent. But with those games the only real thing you're using unique to the Vita is the buttons and sticks... For me the purchase will become a lot more worth it when there's a few more titles like LBP and Resistance out, those will make full use of the console too.

This is what makes me think that Sony are missing out on another avenue of sales here, but I would get a lot more use and enjoy the vita more if I could access the android market or a sony version... I would love to play a bunch of those games that have been "experia optimised" on the thing, many cheap and fun games that would bring so much use to the console. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's easy as I have no idea about chip architecture or how easy it would be to get out an android player (like the Playbook) to work.

I've blabbed on too much already... In summary:

The purchase was worth it for me but I would say barely but that's coming from someone who originally said "I won't get one as I already have too much tech" and it's true, with a PC, xbox, PS3 and tablet there are so many ways for me to play games. The Vita however has been my only refuge since I bought it, I have barely played wow and the xbox and ps3 are getting dusty.

yeh i am the same i havnt touched WOW or starwars but still only playing my pc atm. i also have xbox and ps3 and the only time i play them is whn i have mates over and we have a few drins and play against eachother. i do like my psp but i have hardly played it cos i think it is dated and the graphic aint to good IMO. i would love the ps vita is it worth getting the wifi on it also. its times like this when i am at work and have nothing to do i could sly my psp in and play on it haha :D

Just a heads up for some of you that may be interested...

Its a long way off, but PSO 2 will be coming to the Vita

It also shares the same servers the PC players will use, which would be a welcome change from getting the gimped version that portable consoles are used to.

The video is all in japanese and the footage doesn't look that impressive as its a very early build

Awesome news on pso2. Loved part 1 and 2 on the gamecube.

Indeed, i even thought PSU was good(i imported it as i was impatient :D) but sega released the newer content a bit too slow for it so I lost interest.

I just downloaded the character creater for pso2 up on PSO worlds front page....even the installer is in japanese... good job '>' still looks the same otherwise it would have taken me a while to install it :p. Theres also a benchmarking tool on there if anyones intersted, but it wont be a demanding game so theres no real need. PSO/PSU were never graphically impressive games so it shouldnt require a lot of horsepower to run, which means the vita should be more than capable of handling the final version.

I used to play PSO a lot, was kinda a celebrity in blue burst... Would be nice if I could use the same character between PC nad Vita version :D

A celebrity on PSO? That just means you played far too much and people started to recognise you :p

Been playing Kid Icarus on the 3DS a lot today, it's addictive in a similar way to PSO.

Nearly finished the second expansion for Motorstorm. Would have liked both of them to have faster times to get all three medals but it's still been very enjoyable for a couple of quid.
