***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

Quick question, is it normal for the playstation sign to be lit up blue all the time, even when in standby mode?

I noticed it last night, and when i woke up, the battery was completely drained

It's never done that before...

EDIT: Figured it out.

It's the Skype app, you need to close in manually, or else it'll be running in the background constantly.

E3 is at the stat of June and people are expecting to see lots for the Vita there.

Sony recently announced a sales target of 10 million Vitas for this financial year, since current sales are fairly weak they must think they have something coming which will change that.

Regardless, I finally started on Wipeout in earnest yesterday and it was indeed fantastic. I've got about 3/4 of Rayman done thus far. Some levels are fiendish.

By the end of June the following should have released

Little Big Planet
Gravity Rush
Metal Gear Solid HD
Resistance (just over a week from now)

Downloads are a rip off. They are more expensive than retail (marvel is 39.99 which is a joke) and you have to factor in the cost of the larger memory cards.

Agreed but companies have explained downloads are pricer than retail because they don't want to put retailers with physical copies out of business.

I suppose the downloads are for the people who must have it there and then and willing to pay the extra......I can wait a few days to play a game if that's saving me an extra £10 or less.

I'd say downloads are more for games that I'll keep rather than ones that I might not.

Not that I've bought a game digitally yet that I could have got on a cart. The only one I have is Wipeout but that was free.

The convenience of having it all the time is also nice. Though they should be cheaper.

This :) That and the PSN credit I've got in my wallet (just about maxed out!) cost me about 50% of face value, so it's working out cheaper than physical copies for me.

I was just curious about what you guys think of:

Do you think SONY is doing more harm than good by denying us the PSone playability, if you see here: t.co/ukEN0A0z you will see that someone has already hacked the emulator (as of last night) to be played on the VITA, so now PSone is playable on the system with hacks......

Do you think this would happen anyway?

Or do you think that by sony denying us players the emulator they are fuelling the piracy/hacking of the system?

Yeah i thought downloads could be cheaper if you get the PSN cards on the cheap.. dont they sell normally for a few quid cheaper than they are worth?

PS One support is coming. We know this. One PS1 game already appeared on the store, while it didn't work it did download and install and had a PS1 specific live area (the screen where you press start).

Why the delay? I honestly don't know. Some believe that it is because they are busy working on PSP BC, others think it is because they are rewriting the PS1 emulator because running a PS1 emulator within a PSP emulator is cycle heavy and a waste of battery.

The problem with the hacks that have been done is that they all require a game with a hole in it. As soon as Sony find out which game it is (which they can do just like you might) they remove it from the store, patch the hole and release it again, as they have already done twice.

Thus far there is no way to pirate or hack any Vita games. I don't doubt that people are trying however.

In an ideal world they would have had PS1 support available at launch. There has to be a reason why they didn't, whether that be financial (wanting Vita games to sell), technological (emulator rewrite), or something else. I doubt we'll ever find out what the actual reason was however.

It's widely tipped to be part of their E3 but I'm long past expecting anything from it.

Any official word on a resistance demo before or on release? Id want to see how a fps feels on it before spending £30 or whatever it will be!

I doubt it, thinking about it everybody wants a new game and are willing to pay, if the demo isn't good sales won't be either.
