It is. Rather pricey (£7.99 from memory) but as I never even got halfway through the second disc years ago on the PS1, I figured there's plenty of gameplay for the money.
Only downside is that this was an earlier PS1 game and didn't use the analog stick, so doesn't on the vita either. Still, the D-pad works just fine.
 
Can you guys educate me a little about the Vita? I'm looking to buy one in the next few weeks hopefully, but beyond knowing that I'll need the Vita and some games, I don't really know much else about it. I assume I'll need a memory card - will an 8GB be big enough? How do I go about buying games from the PS Store? Do I have to do it through my PS3, or can I do it on the Vita? Does the original Metal Gear Solid work on Vita if I buy it through the PS Store? Is there is a list of Vita-compatible games from the PS Store anywhere? Do I need anything else?

If you'll be downloading more than a few games from the PS Store, I'd recommend a 16gb memory card at least.

MGS does work on the vita, and you can download through your PS3 or Vita.

All PSone games on the store will work on your Vita, as well as all the PSP games.

Games are quite cheap with PSone games around topping out at £7.99, and PSP games averaging the same price, with new releases being normal retail prices.

Games are about 300mb-1gb in size for PSone and PSP games, depending on what you get.
 
Cool, thanks for the info. Glad that the PSone classics will work, there are some good games on there as I remember, and the PSP games too (I've never played the GTA Stories games so I might pick those up). Looking forward to when I get my money through so I can order one :)

You've bought one at the best time, there are already quite a few decent games out for it, with several more about to be released between now and the end of the year, as well as the PSP library, the PSOne Classics and the recently launched Playstation Mobile library of games. I'm waiting in anticipation that they'll port some games that are aleady available on iOS and Android onto the Vita, mainly Max Payne 1 & 2 and GTA III. :)




 
has it been confirmed nfs most wanted is cross buy? i am soooo close to pre ordering it and that would seal the deal for me tbh
 
Not sure if there has been any update beyond "considering", now it will definitely be a PS3 preorder for me I just hope it is a cross buy so I can carry on playing on the plane when I head to new york at the end of November.
 
Is there a cheap place to buy memory cards for this or are they virtually the same price everywhere? I've only got a 4GB card and after a couple of games and some demos there's no space left. I've been looking at the 32GB card but I don't really want to pay almost £60 for one! :o
