Absolutely not. It took me many hours to even understand the battle system, and I still don't fully understand the Persona fusing system. It's pretty overwhelming for a noob like me. I think I'm gonna start over and grind properly.

Which point are you up to at the moment? You don't necessarily have to start a new game, just go to the lower floors of Tartarus and grind the low level shadows :) they'll probably run away from you if the level difference is too large but that just makes surprise attacks easier.

I think I'm quite near the end, but got pwned by a boss. I thought I didn't have time to grind, as my last save was only a couple of days before the big event...

Oh you're that far in? Are you able to reach the top floors yet? If so I'd go as high up as you feel comfortable with (and picking up/fusing new Persona while you're at it as you'll probably be overflowing with cash at that point), and once you reach level 70-80 (unless of course you're already in that level range, and you could do it lower if you've got a good enough party) or so I'd advise you to do the quest to kill Death from Elizabeth to unlock Monad for grinding (possibly getting Odin with Thunder Reign to make it easier). You could tackle the last boss with less grinding but IMO levelling up as much as you feel the need for and collecting good Personas makes it a lot easier.

Thanks for the tips! Been a while since I played it, don't remember if I can reach the top floors yet. I'll see if I can get away with not starting again, but I don't think I've been playing it properly.

About 3 hours in now to p4g and have my persona :) really like the combat but still not really out of the hand holding bits i dont think! Does it eventually let you free to go about the game freely?

Also im really impfessed with how much of this game is voiced and the amount of anime cutscenes! Ni no kuni promised that butbi felt it lacked them and they were few and far between, this seems to have much more :)

The Thomas Was Alone game is very nice, its amazing the games that basically graphically have nothing about them like this and Sound and Shapes can be very entertaining and have a lot of character.

I picked up soundshapes last night on sale and its amazing! Lately these small cheaper games give me more enjoyment than full £40 games be it on console or pc

Soo unique! Me and the gf were just taking turns with the vita

You're welcome :) Yeah if you're that far in I'd try to avoid starting the game over, as you could always finish the game in whatever state you can, then tackle a more planned playthrough on New Game+ when you carry your save over.

It gives you free reign after some hours yeah :) once you're out of the prologue-y holdy-handy bit you get to go about the day as you see fit for the most part, but there are some periods of time/days where it will take over again as part of the storyline.

Yeah the game has some excellent voice acting! Persona 3 did a great job in the same departments, though sadly the PSP port lost most of the cutscenes. Ni no Kuni's voice acting is also phenomenal (I mean flippin' heck mun', Drippy's voice acting is well tidy), but I was quite disappointed to see how quickly it turned to text boxes and how much it jumped between the two. If you're interested, there is an anime adaptation of Persona 4 (2 of the 3 boxsets have been released in the UK so far, I think the 3rd is due in the next couple of months) which is really well done and uses most, if not all of the same voice actors. Yu Narukami (the main character) is actually voiced too, and is done so by Jonny Young Bosch so I was quite pleased with their choice :D

Totally agree! Nino kuni had waaayy to much reading that got very tedious at the points where, as a player, you knew what was about to happen or what to do, but you have to read them being realllly silly about stuff until the characters figure out what you alreadu have figures out lol if that makes sense ;)

P4g has now opened up :) im now doing what i want with my days, joined a club etc so im wondering if i need to go back to the tv world to train up or if i go back there, will it start the rescue for the person?

Also when do i need to worry about using the options in the velvet room such as fusing personas etc? It throws a lot at you and is a little over whelming but im keeping up with it i think!

Or do i only need to go back to the tv when its rained for a few days and before the fog comes?

Thanks! Abd if i miss it, its game over?

Yesterday I had Phantasy Star Online V2 installed on my psvita from day 1 and changed to a bigger memory card. Sadly this game is now no longer available for vita on my download list or ps3 to vita transfer either. Is there anyway to get it back on my memory card as it worked online flawlessly so no idea why they patched it out for vita users.?

Wish I hadn't got the 32gb card now as I lost my fave game PSOv2 :(

You can go back to the TV World at any time everyone's free/available (which is most of the time), it won't initiate a rescue, as you can tackle the floors at your own pace. All that matters is that you rescue the people in time before the fog lifts, but unlike Persona 3, it will automatically take you there when you're close to running out of time so there won't be a game over (as in P3 NPCs would die if you didn't rescue them from Tartarus in time).

I wouldn't say it's something you have to worry about (as I've managed the "Izanagi only challenge" before), but it is fun once you get your head around it and will make the game a hell of a lot easier as when you fuse Personas a number of things happen:

Your Social Link levels increase the levels of the Personas of the respective Arcanas.

On certain days (which can be seen under the Fusion Forecast option in the Velvet Room), fusions will gain bonuses like increased stats, additional skills, etc. so at times it's worth planning when you're going to go fusion crazy to get the most out of them.

The fused Persona inherits skills from the Persona used to fuse it, and while there are many, many combinations for the same Personas, you might want to plan which ones you're going to use as the skills they get can drastically change their playstyles and really make some unstoppable Personas (especially when you get ones that auto-cast every buff at the start of a fight and heal your character to full HP/SP after a battle).

It's worth noting that some Persona can only be fused once you've maxed a Social Link and received the items you get from doing so, so if you're reading threads about which Persona to use/fuse, bear in mind that some of the listed ones won't be fusable until much later.

Generally the Persona you fuse will be stronger than the ones you gain from the shuffle, even if they're the same Persona. For reasons such as this I'd recommend slowly trying Fusion every now and then to get the hang of it since you can really get out of tight situations with some inherited skills and such (like inheriting an immunity to an element that the Persona is naturally weak to to make them have no vulnerabilities that can be exploited), but one of the useful new features they added is the "Search" function in the Fusion menu where you can see all the possible combinations you can fuse with the Persona you currently have in your party as opposed to having to mess around with different "spreads".

(it's been a while since I played it last, so some of my info might a little off :D)

Edit: Forgot to mention - while you are able to get into Fusion from the get-go, bear in mind it does absorb a large amount of cash, so be a bit weary in-case you go overboard and don't have enough money for other spendings.

Is this a PSP title? I had no idea it was available and loved the game on my GameCube!

Amazing response thank you! So is there anyreason to go to the tv world before the rescue? As u can tackle the floors i guess this could be used to grind before the rescue attempt, would that be a good idea?

Thanks for all the info on fusing! I noticed the forecast and did get a good idea of how i would benefit planning my fusions but i may hold off on this just for now whilst i take everything else in!

Sooo good it seems like a very deep system too

You're welcome :) Well it's up to you how you want to handle the rescues, personally I like to tackle it depending it on how I'm feeling at the time. Like if I'm itching for some combat I'll do the entire rescue at once, or sometimes I'll spread it over a couple of days so I can grind more (or do the grinding in smaller chunks) before the bosses or collect and level up more Personas. I generally go by the idea that the more grinding done, the easier the content following will be for a little while, so yeah I'd say it's a good idea to put in a good amount of grinding every now and then to stay ontop of things so you don't get trampled when it comes to the rescuing.

If you're planning on doing all the sidequests then that's another thing you can try and factor into your schedule (as some quests you pick up in one week can be from a variety of different "worlds" ranging from different levels). You don't gain XP from the quests, but you do get a decent amount of money and some items/books that can only be found by getting far enough down a chain.

Yeah don't rush it :) some people try to jump straight into it and just make it too confusing for themselves, but taking it in a little at a time will probably be the easiest way to get your head around it. Once you've gotten used to it, it's a great system with a surprising amount of dept, especially when you unlock Chagall's Café and gain the ability to create cards of your Personas skills :D In-case you haven't seen them yet, you'll often find Personas that have little rectangles/cards next to some of their skill names. When you spend a day at Chagall's, you can pick one of those skills to convert to a card, which can then be given to Marie to be bought at anytime and taught to your Personas.

Really enjoying Thomas Was Alone.

Very glad I purchased PS+ as there are loads of little gems that I would have never played without it.

Same here. Great game and the the 4th or 5th gem that I'd never have played without PS+.

Sine Mora next month - so glad I held off on buying that. I loved the demo.

Hoping Sony keep up the good work in future months.

Agreed, PS+ is probably the best value for money gaming purchase I've made in the last few years (closely followed by the PS Vita itself as I got that for a steal second hand). I haven't even started Persona 4 yet as I have too many games to finish and some big 3DS games I want to finish first. It's a great time for handheld gaming :)

just got a 3g/wifi ps vita can i change the network its on vodafone but wondering if i can use the giff gaff network?

also what size memory card only got a 4gb at the moment and recommend some good games please

Thanks

My 3G Vita was not 'locked'.....I grabbed a Voda £5 topup initially, to get the Wipeout game, and then promptly plugged in a spare T-mobile SIM I had kicking around (with a few months cheap contract left to run) and have had that in ever since :)

As for memory card, 16GB is the largest 'easily' available @ about £30-35, although there are 32GB ones in the wild.....but a fair bit more cash !

Games = grab a PS+ subscription! Plenty of decent titles available from this, inc. Metal Gear, Uncharted, Gravity Rush and more......I also really like Rayman Origins on the Vita, which you should be able to pick up for a great price.....
