Whats everyones honest opinions of soul sacrifice now the demo is out?

I only played about 1.5hours last night on it. But I really like it, graphics are pretty damn nice. The game play is really good, controls are easy to use. I think they overhyped this "emotional" connection to saving or sacrificing people. Maybe it has bigger impacts later on in the game, but seeing as you can replay missions over and over again it doesnt seem to have any effect. It’s like oh ok I saved this dude.... replay mission ha I killed him this time. There doesn't really seem to be any consequences for anything like they initially said there would be. From a review I watched on youtube, it seems to be like this throughout the whole game. You can choose one option see how it plays out, then just replay the mission and see how the other way goes. Which in a way is nice, but at the same time makes it feel like everything you do is kind of meaningless.

Also I can see why they decided to release the Japanese voice over's as a "DLC" (as weird as that is) because the English voice acting is just terrible. I mean it is horrendous, it completely destroys the whole dark and evil world it's set in. Yet the Japanese voice acting seems to match the nature of the game quite dark and meaningful. The English voices make it feel you are playing a comedy game. My opinion but I can't stand the English voice acting at all.

Otherwise though the game is really fun, seems like it will be very grindathon. I think because the game is challenging and quite engaging you don't notice it as much because you are concentrating on staying alive !

Still a day one purchase for me.

Thanks for your thoughts! Does it seem deep enough and varied enough to remain fresh throughout? I just watched a review of the jap version on utube and it looks great, i just worry the missions wont varie enough as it seems like its just boss fight after boss fight?

But then i imagine it has a lot of replay value to best scores etc

I think there will deffo be enough depth to it. But I have only played a small portion of the demo. Which well the missions are basic (more like tutorials). But I have even enjoyed those missions and I normally HATE tutorial styled missions. You can see the Dark Souls touch to the game, very dark very evil and enemies hit like freaking TRUCKS ! You really do need to keep your wits about you and try avoid incoming attacks rather than just stand still and slash away.

I think there will be enough to keep you playing it for quite some time though. Plus the multiplayer looks like it could be fun.

Have to mention Guacamelee again - no one seems to be talking about it but its fantastic and one of the best games on Vita.

I think that'll be one of my next Vita purchases. But I'm currently making my way through Atelier Totori Plus on the Vita and 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors on my DS (so I can move on to Virtue's Reward, I dislike jumping straight into sequels), and with Fire Emblem: Awakening coming out tomorrow I don't think I'd find time to play Guacamelee! I am really liking the sounds of it from the Kotaku articles though, looks it's also littered with some great game references :p

Does anyone know any fps games on the psp that a) supported either the four face buttons or the dpad for the camera, and b) are on the PSstore? I am playing King Kong, and have mapped the dpad to the right vita stick. It plays really well as a conventional twin analogue shooter, and now I want a proper fps to play in the same way! Unfortunately I can't see the MoHs or CoDs on the store. Does aanyone know if BiA supports the above?

I've not seen anything about a UK price drop. Might have some details about it nearer or after E3 possibly ?

@blueshift. Soul Sacrifice is a kind of monster hunter styled game. You get missions (which generally involve killing lots of mobs) which you then get new spells from. It has a story to it which you work your way through, but you can go back and replay missions for more XP or rewards or simply to try better your score. It's Dark Souls esk in a way, very dark, evil and twisted world. But also relates to the game play. Monsters hit extremely hard and bosses hit like god damn freight trains. It sounds daunting but makes it really enjoyable because it forces you to learn enemy attacks and attack patterns. How to avoid things find out weakness's and exploit them to kill them. You are a "sorcerer" and have no choice in that. But you get spells which lets you conjurer axes or swords etc.. so you can melee if you want. You really do have to pay attention to the game though. You can't just stand in front of a monster and spam attacks otherwise you will die extremely quickly. You have to move about and avoid incoming attacks.

I played more of it last night and the more I play the more I am drawn in. The game play is actually extremely solid. The story seems quite interesting. I like that spells can break meaning you can't just spam the same spell over and over again. The "boosting" spells is a nice mechanic too.

Thanks Adsta, I get it now:)
Seems like a very good game

I thought about that but decided I enjoyed Mutants from Space so much that if I want to keep seeing good games from small companies I best give them some money, so just went ahead and bought Guacomelee anyway, loving it.

Won a vita last night on ebay :) should be here tomorrow!

Its the 3g/wifi one with 32gb card, starter kit , and 3 boxed games (which are going straight on ebay to get some money back) fifa 13, assassins creed and a fighting game for £220, so hopefully the games get me £20+ back making it not a bad deal

I didnt really need the 3g one but if i ever want to move it on i guess that will be a bonus

Also ordered persona 4 golden as thats all i want really :P

I highly recommend Gravity Rush too! Fantastic game. Have been playing Atelier Totori Plus on my Vita lately, and while it may not be everyone's cup of tea (the whole game is timed) I'm loving it for the classical JRPG feel.

so.....i'm buying a 32gb card unless a 64gb has been announced for the future tomorrow. Anyone know if this has been announced?

The times they give you are like 30 days to do a quest that takes 1 day so it's really really not feeling like a timed game to me so far.

Could someone explain to me the benefits of saving/sacrificing on soul sacrifice? Other than the obvious gaining magic dmg/health (I assume that's permanent?)

I meant more along the lines like all your actions consume a set amount of time, which seems to put a lot of people off. I'm enjoying it though, the time you get feels generous enough to not put you under too much pressure.
