***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

So, just bought my 7yr old a Vita 3G /w 8gig card and LBP. Not intending on buying a 3G contract, he can just tether off my phone or aircard if out and about.

Really its his b-day tomorrow and it was a last minute thing, so not done anywhere enough research on this. Will 8GB be enough? We're not on PS Plus, but probably will be when the PS4 gets delivered on Nov15th (confirmed pre-order) :D

I guess I'll find out more when he opens the box tomorrow. He's had DS's ever since he was born, and is a solid gamer on the PS3, 360 & PC. I'm not the sort of parent who doesn't let him play COD. GTA would probably be a little too much mind.. Any games i should be on the look out for?

I'd get on ps plus now and start to stockpile the games. As long as your a member you can play them :-)

8gb should be ok to start with. But then again I just seem to play final fantasy 7 lol

Yeah ps plus is your best bet. It has Jak and Daxter on it now as well, which would probably be good for your kid. Rayman Legends is very good as well. The new Batman game is out soon too.

Have you heard that The Vita is going to be able to play the proper full version of FM (I.e not the crappy handheld version). It will also have cross platform play, you can continue your saves between the pc and vita.

Surely this is the vita's killer app, I now see the vita selling 100's of millions and global productivity spiralling into terminal decline!

It is classic mode which is a total watered down experience so its not the 'full' pc experience.

Never really been a fan of handheld gaming but recently I got the ps vita mega pack which was a steal! The major reason I got the vita (like many now I suspect) is the upcoming ps4 cross play feature, anyway Iam very impressed by it, it's got the typical Sony features: well built, looks the part, slick user interface (much better than xmb) only played a few of the games so far but little big planet is surprisingly addictive, uncharted is amazing for a handheld game and would hold it's own against any "proper" console game and music unlimited feels as if it was made for it, i just wish Sony would employ a more aggressive marketing campaign for the vita and devs invest more in it as there is a danger this great piece of hardware could fade into obscurity, hopefully the ps4 will breathe new life into it

How'd you get so lucky?

Walked into a shop, saw it on the shelf and purchased it lol.

Played a few missions and it's really fun, tbh i do negelct my vita, i've got a few games but the only one i've put time into is Persona 4 but this should make me clock up some hours on it.

It is not the full experience, but its not that watered down. For many it will be enough. As the name suggests it feels more like older versions of FM and seasons can be completed faster.

The standard FM handheld which you can get on ios, andriod and you used to be stuck with on the vita is much much worse. I didnt feel like I had any control over matches as the highlights were so short.

Downloaded Jak and Daxter on this and just how bad is the framerate and controls?

I love the first Jak game so was looking forward to curling up on the couch playing it and was so sad :(

I would have forgiven it if it had cross platform saves, but nope, really disappointing.
