The leaked letter send to stores did say that they would only be getting what was ordered and no more and that post launch stock would be very limited.
Just tried my New Trent IMP 1000 portable battery (11A capacity!) and it doesnt charge the vita for some reason.
The mains adapter gets 5v at 1.5A and this gives 5v at 1A so that could well be it.
Wondering what Sonys portable battery has that makes it different or if it literally just the A.
Sim activation is NOT needed over the phone
I just topped up my Vita without speaking to them once! Just got my order notification
I had to browse the website for a moment with the wifi off, but then I put the wifi back on for speed and i then put in my payment details. I had to put in VISA electron even though it's just VISA - as i saw someone else suggest this. It's not topped up and hopefully I will soon have my Wipeout code
I can't top up online, says its broken
Very good. The only one better I think was the Morrisons one and that only came in £5 cheaper.
Ahh, he marked it as done to hit his quota on time and then planned on delivering it later. Complain heavily. it's the only way anything gets done.
I've not played any games yet lol!
Currently copying some bits from the PS3. Downloaded Facebook, Twitter and Flickr over 3G just because I could. Oddly It kept saying could not connect to a PS3 with it plugged in to the first UBS slot but worked fine in the 2nd. Will try again later.
I went to the vodafone site, registered my account and it pulled through the information I gave the guy earlier easy enough, then topped up £5 (even though he said the system wouldn't allow it) and my account registers as having £5 on it. Code the authorisation code thing through but no sign of anything for Wipeout yet.
Boo!!
EDIT: Vita just bleeped like it got a notification but you cant back out of the content manager without cancelling it. Maybe thats wipeout.
EDIT2: yes it was. Downloading now. If only there was a way of copying that code into the store!

My PSN name is SirTodge by the way. My internet is crap so head to head will never work but if anyone has Motorstorm or Rayman or any of the asynch stuff I can play.

Stardust is godlike btw, looks fantastic.
Just wish the DS3s used the same grippy kind of rubber that the Vita sticks use. Thumbs never slipped off once.

I'm LOVING Motorstorm. cars handle just like they used to in MicroMachines and having the coloured arrow on the track showing your fastest time is brilliant. Doesn;t get in the way like Ghosts do but does show you what you need.

1GB spread over three files took 2 minutes via a USB3 port (the Vita is USB2). Same files to my USB3 stick took 21 seconds.
Southpark at RF10 and RF20 look identical to me. Both look fantastic on the screen, RF20 meant the episodes were only 99mb. RF10 meant they were 300mb.
Interestingly the encode of Thrones I did at RF20 has a green bar along the bottom but it doesn't appear like that on my PC. Going to try the (much) larger RF10 file.

Handbrake is your friend.
You need the video format as MP4, codec as H264, select large file, set the resolution to 960x544 and the quality to RF 20 (this should already be set). Then add the item to the queue and tell it to go.
No idea. Probably.
On the "picture" tab, select Anamorphic "None" then set your width to 960 and tick "keep aspect ratio". That should then set the height as 544 assuming your video is 16:9 in the first place.

So whats the "networking" application on PSV to add friends etc? Are there any basic games you can play against each other or something?
I wonder if Tesco has some games... could go and by uncharted or something.

The application is very cunningly named... Friends.
Motorstorm RC is good for lap times and stuff, not head to head though, Wipeout has multiplayer, as does Fifa, the fighting games and some others.
Don't forget to set your panel to something more interesting than a block of colour.
to do that, select your profile in Friends, click the ... in the bottom right and click edit. In there you can select an image for your panel
Anyone tried Near. I have about ten people around me according to my Vita with PS Vitas. I wasn't expected there to be so many soon. I was expecting maybe one or two at the most. Looks likes sales are doing really well then.
Near is an odd one. I like it and I tihnk the sharing side of it is cool ad it is freakishly accurate.
I don;t think people are reading it right though. When you go in and you see a smiley face with x5 next to it I think that isn't other players, just new games played. EG, mine says x5. When I clock on the crown it shows the 5 games I've started for the first time.
Just starting up a new one to see what it does.
EDIT: it won;t update your data more than once an hour so I'll have to wait. I live in a village of 1500 about 2 miles from the town so I'm not expecting miracles lol. When I go to the very centre of London on Friday though I expect that will change.

All of it. It's typical storage though, 4GB is actually like 3.7, 32GB is actually 29GB. How this hasn't been forced to change I don't know.

The Welcome park is your best bet. It could just be a case of rebooting the Vita. Occasionally I;ve seen people have similar issues. With it still being early firmware there are going to be niggle like that until they work them all out.
Yep. Remember folks, it you encounter anything odd like that DO NOT PANIC. Holding the power button down will bring up the menu to do a reset. As I said in the quote above, its early firmware.
Completely different game. They started development on it at around the same time as development started on Uncharted 2. It's less focused on massive set pieces and more on everything else.
I've downloaded the patches for Uncharted, Lumines and Wipeout now so that's all done. It was actually faster for me to download the Fifa demo by tethering to my phone than it was over my home WiFi. Fortunately I have a large data plan that I never use as it was a rather large file!
To get an update for a game, go to the live area, hit refresh and click on the yellow ball with an arrow in it at the top of the screen. They all just get added to the download queue so you can download several at once without having to stop everything else like the PS3!
If the game is on a cart I THINK the cart needs to be in to install the update, it does NOT need to be in to download it.
Now I'm going to hunt around the background websites to find a nice unlock screen and some pretty page backgrounds to spruce things up.

This is prob going to sound the most stupid question ever... I turned my Vita off and put it on charge, I've taken it off charge and can't turn it back on. The blue playstation light keeps flashing and I've pressed power and the blue PS Vita button but nothing is turning it on
Hold the power button down for about 20 seconds. if it still does nothing then plug the power back in and try again. If still not working wait 30 minutes and try again.
Yep, got about 9 people within 9KM of me. It didn't want to connect 5 or 6 hours ago though. No idea why.
Are you using 3G or are you on a WiFi unit?

I've just gotten two gifts from Near, a Hustle Kings avatar and a box of track parts for Modnation. They expire in 10 and 14 days time though so if I want to use them I have to buy the games before that date. Interesting bit of nudging to get people to buy more games there.
