***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

Just got my Vita. Any thing I should do before I start playing games? Tips/Hints?

Cheers

Set your standby time to something other than 1 minute. That gets annoying fast.

Plus, my 32GB memory card arrived. There will be an 8GB one in the MM tomorrow used but obviously still fine.

Also I can confirm that Near will update even when YOU put the vita into standby. Mine checked for my location every 30 minutes on my drive home and picked up several locations.

Wife is playing Escape Plan again, just started laughing like muttley (shes I'll) and screaming at it for the character dying. :)

It doesn't, the mainstream game stores are selling everything at RRP.

Well HMV are doing a WiFi + Uncharted for £230 so just going there would have been cheaper. If anyone went to Game or Gamestation shame on you lol. As always theyll rip you off with packages as they were doing the same for £250.

People need to shop around. Asda are doing a really good deal for sure even Argos are beating the main high street gaming retailers lol

How much did you pay for the 32Gig memory card. I heard they were like over £80

I assume you mean standy?, or actually fully powered down?

I seem to remember that was fully powered down. Really annoying too, doesn't use any extra juice a Mac or iPad charger can provide. It'll only charge and play with the official charger.

Mine was 70 quid on the bay :) Not too bad as a mate paid £63 when he was over there and ordered from the forest site

Thats a decent price :) never heard of them though. I assume theyre reliable then :)

Im thinking of just getting 2x 16Gig cards though. A mate of mine can get them for £24 each so its a no brainer for me

Yeah they are reputable apparently, never used them before this though.

£24 each for 16GBs is a great price though!

Yeah thats what I thought. Not sure how annoying its going to be keeping track of two cards but I think I'll use one for movies and one for games to keep it easy lol. Im gonna check out that website though if theyre reputable they may be worth a check for other things :)

How much was post and packaging. They seem to sell games cheap too :)

$3 canadian.

is it cheaper to buy games from the ps3 psn store? i havnt checked yet

Cheaper than retail? No, it was never going to be. It is discounted from the RRP, but the fighting UK retailers do means the prices they sell at are already lower than those.

Uncharteds RRP for example is £45, it's on the PSN for £40 and you can get it on Amazon for £37.90, Shopto for 36.85.

Well thats that then. I know where Im pre-ordering my future Vita games lol. Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill here I come haha

Don't forget that while cart games will work on ANY region account and ANY region Vita, if DLC is locked to the region the cart came from (IE doesn't come out in the UK) you'll have to play the game on that region account to play any DLC.
