***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

My mistake, I am in no means saying that by 2013 we will see a PSP or PS4/5 with 4GB of RAM and 2GB VRAM graphics cards. As you quite rightly say the cost of producing that anytime soon would be crazy.

But wouldn't it be nice to be able to see the kind of graphics you see on your PC on your phone or on a PS Vita/Nintendo DS

TBH, I'm surprised just how bad the 3DS's graphics actually are considering Nintendo were, at one point at the top of the portable gaming craze.

Obviously the smaller the screen the better the graphics look, as you say, upscaling the iPad makes the graphics look awful. So surely to make amazing graphics on the small scale would be easy?

I'd love to see that kind of fidelity on a handheld and bearing in mind how good some games look in the Vita (I've shown two "normal" gamers who love Uncharted, BF3 and Skyrim Uncharted Golden Abyss and Wipeout and both said several swear words), IF there is another generation (many would say that smartphones will have replaced everything by that point) then games may reach that kind of fidelity.

But in 7 years time, when these devices are going to be being unveiled, what are your PC games going to look like?

On the subject of Nintendo, they've never really been graphical beasts. They have a stable of franchises that have a huge fanbase and will sell well almost regardless of anything else. Nintendo decided that the 3DS aspect of the 3DS would be enough to hook people in like the motion control did with the Wii. Sony went for high fidelity, high power, OLED high resolution (comparatively) instead.

I've no idea which company might have a better result, All I know is that competition is great for gamers. The better Nintendo do the better Sony will have to do to compete. If the launch line-up is anything to go by then the Vita has a good chance of doing well.

:D

I really REALLY want one of these but when i tried it in the shop i almost instantly felt motion sickness... :(

Anyone else had any problems with that?

What game was it? I get really bad motion sickness with some FPS and fast moving games.

I've been OK with the Vita so far. Wipeout can give me a headache after a while, but regular breaks and I'm fine.

Ummm... have you even played some of the recent releases? Look at RE Revelations for starters.

Its not exactly amazing though. Yes it looks nice but its nothing special and as with all recent Nintendo consoles they very much seem to be ignoring power over substance.

This isnt necessarily bad. Nintendo do generally produce better games they just always look last gen and never next gen

All the great things we'll see from Wii U will be awesome and groundbreaking from a gameplay stand point but once again they are releasing a new console next year that for all its wiz bang controller and gimmicks is only slightly better than a PS3 if any better and once again Nintendo release a console with graphical capabilities that are a generation behind once the new xbox is released and then the PS4.

I am not saying that sexy graphics are everything and that yes gameplay is more important BUT its a silly arguement about which is more important when in reality there is no reason why we cant have both in this age of gaming.

Imagine if Nintendo released an actual next gen graphically capable machine with their imaginations and gameplay innovations. That would finally be the perfect console :) Zelda would be truly immersive and magical and finally grown up like im sure real fans want.

If the launch line-up is anything to go by then the Vita has a good chance of doing well.

It's one of the most impressive launches I've seen for a while.
Not just with the Retails games, but also the Playstation Store.
Seeing nearly the whole PSP back catalogue for fairly cheap is very good.

The biggest surprise for me is Motorstorm RC for under £5. Great fun!

Well cheers guys and gals, reading this thread has pushed me to buy one.

Wi-Fi version with 8GB Memory card, Everybody's Golf and Dungeon Hunter for £308, felt a little steep , how does it compare?

I think there was a better choice of game in the deals at GAME but considering their circumstances I went to the only other local place that had them which was Argos :D.

Can I buy PS points on my debit card to purchase games on the PSstore too?

That seems a little steep.
I paid £260 for the Wifi only with 8gb Memory Card, Lumines and Wipeout.
They had a bundle where you got the Memory card for free and your choice from a selection of games for £15. Then I just added Wipeout on it's own.

Bah, went to get one. The woman at the till was so slow that when it was my turn it was almost closing time and I didn't have time to run up to the other one of their shops to get Rayman (and all the other games that they had left didn't look any good) :( Now I have to wait until monday to get it!

I also have a PSN ID thread that there's already a lot of usersnames posted :)

Amazon will sell you that collection for £261.56 =/ sorry.

As for PSN, yes you can top up with your credit/debit card via the Vita or a PS3 or on the website or you can buy PSN vouchers in shops.

Thinking of saleing my one all ready the psn network is pants been trying to down load a demo all day all of them get to the end of the down load then give a error

Real bummer for me today, finally my Amazon bundle order for the 3G arrived, opened the box and.............it's the wifi version :(

To be fair though Amazons customer service was pretty good and they've sorted me a free returns label and sent me another one first class, just means I've now got Rayman, Everybodys golf, an 8gb memory card, a case but no Vita!!

What cases have everyone got ?

I've ordered the Thrustmaster VIP one, it's not out until the 2nd of March though

What demo is it and are you downloading to the vita or to the PS3 and transferring it? Is that the only thing wrong with it?

Seems like a 3G version price that does

Asda, WiFi version, Uncharted, 16Gig card, for £260 which is a great deal

Hey folks, what would the difference be between the PSN store version and physical media version of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 on the PSV? Are there any?
(Whats the cheapest the physical media version can be had for?)

Have to say that Morrisons deal was great. Vita, game and a 4GB stick for what is effectively £215.

Bugger, I always knew it be cheaper online but not that much, HIGHstreet prices...

As ANN1H1LAT0R said, are you sure you didn't get the 3G?

If you want, just order one from Amazon, if you havn't used it yet sign up for the Prime trial and you'll get it Monday :) Then just take that one back to Argos and tell them where to stuff it.

No difference mate. Physical cards load a second or so faster but that's all.

Amazon do the cart for £30
