PlayStation VR / VR2

I bought the Horizon bundle but haven't even tried it yet, been having far too much fun in Pavlov but I've also tried a bit of the Star Wars demo which, even as someone who isn't a Star Wars fan, was really cool.

I'm very impressed with the whole thing, the set-up process was great and the experience is extremely polished. I have got the Sense charging station coming as a birthday present though, I resented the price before but charging the controllers individually is quickly going to become a faff and their shape makes them awkward to put down somewhere.
The charging station is essential, in my opinion. I agree, it must be really frustrating having to charge each controller separately via the console. Charging via the station is quick, too .... haven't timed it but it took maybe 1.5 hrs for a full charge.

Lady Dimitrescu in VR.. Mmmmmmm :D

In the words of Professor Simon Peach.. I like em big!

Oh aye she's not without! :p

Just finished 'that' bit in house Benivedo (sp), intense to say the least!

One thing I will say about the unit, it's very easy to over tighten the strap. I start getting a banging headache if it's on just a little too tight!

What's everyone's thought now having owned the headset for almost a week ?

Generally pretty impressed overall but I think some of the reviews overhyped it especially for those of us that have tried more recent VR headsets like the Quest 2 and aren't comparing it directly to PSVR 1! Specifically I'm pretty disappointed by the lenses in the headset. The small sweet spot doesn't bother me too much as once you put it on and adjust it it's generally fine. However the lenses only really seem to display a clear/focussed image in the centre of them. If you look towards the edges you'll notice the text can often be quite blurry with a lot of what to me looks like chromatic aberration. I have glasses so I think that some precription lenses would improve things but I can't see it eliminating this completely. In general I wouldn't say that the lenses aren't much of an improvement over the 2 year old Quest and in some ways are worse which is disappointing.

Most of the other tech in the headset is decent though. The controllers are on par with the quest ones IMO, tracking is good and the ease of use is great with just the single cable to plug in. Most of the general fit, finish and comfort are what you'd expect. Also, whilst the headphones are OK I really wish it had integrated speakers like the Quest.

In terms of positives the eye tracking seems like it will be a really nice feature when games start using it. The PS5 does a great job of driving the headset and some of visuals it can deliver are great. Played a bit of GT7 which is an amazing experience and defintely a real highlight. Horizon is fun but more of a tech demo than a game from what I've played of it so far.

As someone who owns a Quest 2 but doesn't have a VR capable gaming PC I'm planning on keeping the PSVR2 primarily for games which my Quest isn't powerful enough to run. Despite complaints online about the price it's still massively cheaper than spending several thousand on a VR capable PC.

So yeah, overall it meets my expectations and I'm happy enough to keep the headset but it's not quite the flawless experience some of the more hyped reviews sold it as! Certainly moves the game forward in terms of what you can expect from visuals and game content in a £1000 (ps5 +headset) VR setup though.

Just ordered the VR2, hope it lives up to the hype etc, already got GT7 and No Mans Sky to play with when it gets here, is Resident Evil Village worth picking up cheap for it ?

Cheers all

It's probably worth picking up cheap, I bought it cheap and waited for VR to start playing, but you can tell it's not built for VR. Its clunky as hell meaning progress is frustrating and ruins the immersion quite a bit. Compare this to playing something like Moss, it's might and day in terms of enjoyment for me.

Thanks for the heads up, both Moss games plus Star Wars Galaxies are on my wish list ;)

Bugger, just went to try Job Simulator and it requires roomscale; I don't have a 2m x 2m area anywhere! Unfortunately as I've already downloaded and started it I highly doubt I'll be able to get a refund but I'll give it a go.

Tried a bit of Moss though and it's wonderful, and is played sitting down which makes a nice change from all the standing and moving around of everything else I've tried so far.

That's annoying. Is there no option to teleport etc?

Sony will refund you, I'm sure if you only have a small amount of game time on any game they will refund.
