100%[====================================>] 1,000,000,000 9.70M/s in 98s

I'll try again this eve.

It could be an overloaded HDD. How many users are on your drive?

Thanks :)

I'm on the second best package (1.5TB disk allocation) so I would hope not many. I don't have any permission to list the contents of my /homeXX folder so I can't tell :(

Thanks again :) This is what I got:

Transferred 1 File (953.67 MB) in 16 minutes 26 seconds (990.9 KB/s)

However, I download this file (http://mirror.nl.leaseweb.net/speedtest/1000mb.bin) at roughly 7MB/sec straight afterwards.

I am really lost as to where the problem lies. Like I said in my trust message, I've had 4 people in the UK test from different ISPs (Sky, Virgin Media, BT, PlusNet) and we all get rubbish speeds. My friend in South Africa on 10mbit ADSL can max out his line from my seedhost.eu server (his average speed is better than mine).

However your mate in .NL, and my friend's hosted server at OVH in France both get 8MB+/sec.

£101 cashback + 9 months half price fibre - how does this compan make a profit lol!?! - I'm not complaining though :)

Shoulda got a username from here to use as a referral but just couldn't wait - only 5 days left on that cashback if anyone is contemplating joining!

Good job you didn't because referring another user would cancel out your cash back.

eeek! in all honesty I'm not expecting it to go through anyway!

My current fibre provider BT is due my 30 day notice on the 10th of this month and obviously contract finished 10 of April. I have a feeling they will probably mess me around as I ain't got my MAC(?) code yet.

I completed the order but obviously can't transfer across till I sort that - pretty sure I'll have to wait until the 10th to get it.

/fingers crossed

I've updated my post.

My connection just now: 1% [ ] 15,539,946 611K/s eta 29m 38s (10% of my max)

Cheers mate. It seems to be a UK --> NL peering/over-utilisation issue based on all of these tests, and the fact that I get poor speeds from feralhosting.com and seedboxco.com (Leaseweb) too and not just seedhost.eu.

Since the problem appears to affect most UK ISPs, perhaps the problem is at LINX and I don't think PlusNet will be able to do much about it.

Plusnet been great until i got this today!

Hey KIA,

I received a reply this afternoon from seedhost.eu saying that they have re-routed the traffic. I've just done a speedtest and achieved this result:

Transferred 1 File (953.67 MB) in 3 minutes 32 seconds (4.50 MB/s)

More would be nice, but it is peak time and I can live with that since I am paying less than I was when I had BT Infinity 2.

That's good to hear.

Seedhost must have done some thing on their side as I can login into my server again.

I hope you guys don't have to go thourgh the same poor customer support that I have received from Plusnet, messed up BT engineers visits (twice) slow answers to support questions, still expecting me to pay my bill even though I've had no service since 9th Jan.

Never again.
