Plusnet Discussion Thread

I've received the email as well detailing the slight price increase, I'm trying to figure out if I can get a better deal? I've been with Plusnet for just over 24 months and have never had a problem, however I would be prepared to leave if I can get the same level of service and save a few £££ seeing as I'm out of contract.

My Current Package
Plusnet Unlimited Fibre - £19.99
Anytime Call Package - £6.00
Plusnet Line Rental - £16.99
Total: £42.98

Any advice?

Same as me but I have caller display on also so add another 99p. Would it be better to cancel and start a new contract using Top Cash back savings or are those people requesting to leave getting £5 off knocked per month ?

Thanks

Unlimited Fibre as in the 40/2? Were you changed from 40/20 to 55/10?

Right now, BT 55/10 works out at just over £15 per month if you pay for the line rental upfront and claim the prepaid card plus quidco cashback. You'll have to add the call package.

I personally think new customers get better deals, as well as recontracts generally being 2 years.

Keep in mind if you recontract and you're on a fibre package, you'll go from 40/10 (or 40/20) to 40/2.

I called 0800 432 0200 and followed the options to leave

Both people I spoke to in retentions offered me the £5 discount.

Cheers

No I'm on 80/20 (Sync 75/18) been with Plusnet since March 2014

I called up Plusnet last week to cancel as in the past they would not let me have the 80/20 package on my line as it tops out at 38-40meg despite explaining to them i only wanted the extra upload. As soon as i said i wanted to leave and said why they offered me the 80/20 package at £15pm which is actually less than i was paying for the 40/2 package.

Who do I need to speak to at Plusnet to resign and hopefully get a similar discount?

No idea. I wasn't complaining about the service, nor threatening to leave. It was just their email telling me about the price hike with a link to a discount for my current service.

Maybe the fact my 18 month contract is due to end next month had something to do with it. Maybe it's just dumb luck. Either way, I'll take it :)

Anyone know what happens when a plusnet contract ends? Does it just turn into a rolling contract?

Mine is ending soon, but don't want to get tied into 18 months again as I plan on selling the house.

Plusnet are changing there 40/2 to 52/10 in line with BT's offering from the 1st of August. I renewed yesterday and tried to downgrade to 40 but was told to hold off a few days until the regrade happens then drop down to 52. The guy said he shouldn't have told me but it's on their site albeit slightly hidden away. A bit cheeky that you can still sign up to the 40mb right now.

Yep, rolling.

Say you were on a 40/20, you'd stay on a 40/20 rolling contract until you renewed where you'd be downgraded to 40/2.

Heisenberg, very interesting. Thanks for posting. The 40/2 always seemed like an odd move to me.

Don't think that's right, the people on the 40/20 contract go to 55/10 the guys on 40/2 stay on 40/2 + as it stands PlusNet will not offer the 55/10 contract to new people, unless its changed since a Mod on the PN forums stated the above.

I'm just going with what the guy said on the phone. He just said their entry level fibre was changing to 52. Maybe the guy got the wrong end of the stick. Pretty poor for an employee.

We will find out soon, beyond me why they won't offer a 55/10 service to new customers ?

This. 1st of August is when the 40/20 folks will move to 55/10.

I've just looked into all this and it appears your correct.

I'm on an old 40/20 package. I'm getting about 13mbps upload (almost 15 when G.INP upload is enabled).

I work from home and upload is more important than download, so now according to this i'm about to drop to 9.5 mbps upload.

Who was the person who switched to the 80/20 at no extra cost? Was it done via retensions.

Just for info, their new network has had issues over the last 3 weeks(since they moved more guys over to it) peak time are very poor with packet loss and high ping's.

They are in denial that there is any problem.

Forced me really to jump ship to BT.

Last 3 weeks have been like this at peak times every day.

Going to ring and complain tomorrow, fed up with it all now. Along with the price increase i'm probably use the 30 days for the letter to leave.

They claim it's their new "state-of-the-art" network, more like "state-of-the-fart" network.
