Pokemon GO! (2016)

GOt a CP444 Charmander in my 10km egg tonight. Very pleased with that...got all 4 starters now.

I thought IV's did not change during evolution, but I just did, and it is different by a fair amount, using that SilphRoad spreadsheet. I had to power up the original wild caught Gastly 4 times before I could know the exact IV. I then evolved the Haunter, but none of the potential IV combinations for it included the original Gastly's IVs. The Gastly was 84% perfect, the Haunter a mere 62-64%.

So now I am confused if I should carry on ditching the rubbish basic pokemons and keep the 75%+ perfect ones...because what's the point it they will evolve into weaker ones anyway???

Any idea of an app etc which I can keep my pokemon go app open in my pocket but "lock" the phone so its not minimised or anything?

I have caffeine app for keeping the screen on but need the soft keys and the screen protected from my leg pressing stuff accidentally as I'm walking

BTW android 5 on Vodafone smart ultra 6

I've had this with one Pokemon. It went from over 90 down below 20. I figured I entered the details wrong before I evolved it.

Sorry if you have already tried this but have you turned on Battery Saver option in game?
 
We sat in the castle grounds and the park all day yesterday drinking and snacking in the sun. It's the first day we've properly been out and about in a while. Put a lure on one of the many stops and sat back on our chairs whilst flocks of people came wandering over. It's great for people watching :)

Had a family walk around Sheffield Botanical Gardens, lots of lures were popped and students whooping with joy! My wife did laugh when I caught an evolved Droozer (cp 289) and I yelled "In the back of the net!"
Who said this Pokemon malarkey is just for kids? :D

Can someone help me out with IV stats please? I've looked into it today for the first time and am close to doing some evolutions so naturally want to ensure i'm evolving the best Pokémon.

I have an Eevee of 237 CP which according to https://thesilphroad.com/research IV calc is 60% Battle /60% CP /50% HP, but another Eevee of only 45 CP but is 75% Battle /80% CP /100% HP, should I be evolving the 45CP one?

You are correct in wanting to evolve the stronger one but I would personally wait for a higher level Eevee!

Fair enough, the lucky egg is burning a hole in my pocket! I've got loads to batch evolve for XP but the pidgeycalc recommends I get even more, as it stands I look to have about 21 minutes of the 30 accounted for with evolutions

That's pretty good :) Are you in a position to lure a stop or get to a stop which is lured? Got any eggs to hatch as well? That would be a nice boost!
 
can't count on any eggs as I'm turning them over quite staggered. going to go on my first trip to a city today purely to play, and i've not yet used an incense so I think i'm going to drop one of those as soon as I get out of the car and keep walking with one, whilst hatching eggs, then when I get home (in range of a Pokéstop) I'll hopefully be ready to mass evolve stuff, want 20,000 XP minimum.

It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation with evolving isn't it, because I want to evolve the most efficient I can do, but will only get high CP Pokémon when i'm a higher level.

Maybe I should just hold off from evolvnig the Eevee during the lucky egg, in case i catch a nicer higher level one... hmm yea I think you've sold me on that
 
It's well worth holding out for a higher Eevee. I was in Devizes and about to evolve my 490 CP when I found a 534...needless to say waiting paid off. Just collect all the candy you can and then do what you said and mass evolve. Pidgys are great for that as the candy cost is so low.

EDIT: Regarding your Eevee, just be aware that when you evolve the moves will change and can potentially be quite bad. I would be tempted to stick with the higher CP.
 
What trainer level are you?

If you are less than 20, save the candies of rarer pokemon, and stock up pidgey/rattata/weedle/etc trash candies to do mass lucky egg evolves to level up quicker.

Once you hit level 20, the rate at which you level up drops rather drastically, so you won't be encountering pokemon in the wild that are higher than the ones you have quite so frequently.

The Eevees you catch after level 20 will be higher CP, and thus evolve in to stronger eevolutions without the candy and stardust cost to power up a low level one.

Also, if you really are going to go the whole hog in terms of IV stats, hatched/lured/incensed pokemon have better base IVs than wild spawned pokemon. Don't let IVs be the main focus though, moveset has much greater importance than a possible 10% better stats than average.

I'm only Lvl 10, got 2 x lucky eggs and all my 5 insence still remaining because I don't often get to play in city areas, my first foray into that is this morning, going to launch an insence and see what happens as I'm walking about, some people have reported really rare Pokémon in the city, but what's the bet i'll just end up with 5 pidgeons lol.

I went through my non boring ones I can evolve and it's only Eevee and Drowzee and there are some really stand out ones IV wise, but do get trapped in the chicken and egg thing of wanting to evolve them but not wanting to waste the candy on low CP ones, as I do think i'm playing this game for the long haul

We should arrange a Pokemon walk...I missed out on the Bristol one as I had my son but from what I've seen, it was a very good day!

Fine on my OPX, but then I think a Snapdragon 801 is a fair bit faster than your 615. Does stutter if the phone gets too hot though, which in the hot sunshine with a powerbank plugged in happens more than I'd like!
