Voted Maybe. It's been a few years since my last upgrade and I think the OC has taken its toll - had to ditch the OCUK profile for stability, and even auto-OC isn't doing much now. I'll be waiting for a lot of comparison reviews and a price drop if I can, though.

As a gamer/enthusiast user that uses their PC for mostly for gaming and some productivity work I fail to see what the X99 offers me over i7 4770k.

Extra CPU cores that no game will use, expensive DDR4 and doesn't offer any tangible performance benefits over DDR3, X99 motherboards some of which I've noticed aren't offering SATA express or M.2.

Not for me thank you.

Actually, I have to change my vote, but you would have to add option with more than 1-2 weeks time :)
Working on the project and I have other priorities.
But will definitely be upgrading.

Won't be upgrading, my i7 4770k is more than fast enough even at stock for anything I need to run.

as a matter of fact my 4 year old i5 760 before that was also quick enough for everything i run.

maybe nearer Christmas when I get the urge for something new and reviews are positive i may think about it.

Can't really see the point for any of my systems as yet - I think i'll be putting money into graphic cards rather than even more wasted CPU time ;)

Will 2 way SLI actually see any tangible improvement at 1440p in anyone's honest?

I'll be upgrading to X99 within a few weeks of launch for sure :)

My I7 920 is long in the tooth -and I couldn't bring myself to 'upgrade' to a 4790k, when it has the same number of cores, threads, cache, even with the IPC increase it's not worth it.

6 cores, 15MB of cache on Haswell-E however, finally a worthy upgrade :)

Waiting for the reviews to see the pros and cons very happy with my x79 kit atm , think gfx card is my next upgrade point to be honest

Maybe I have had a z97 system in and out if my basket for the last few days but decided just to buy a 290 and keep my setup as is now and revisit the x99 after christmas

will be upgrading from q6600 @ 3.6ghz,
hope 2011-3 socket has a lot of future generation support.
if i can get the same 7 years out of it, it will be worth the premium it will no doubt command.

Or save yourself a tonne of money and slap in a Xeon X5650 for £69 and enjoy hex core goodness. It'll clock a lot better than your current cpu too (4.2-4.4)

Or for a tiny bit more, Xeon X5660, X5670 (you'll get the better multi on these and overclock really high!). I actually went with a X5675 but they are harder to find as they are newer but I found a cracking deal on one and had to buy it.

My X5675 should be arriving very soon.

It's a very, very good time for the X58 platform.

Definitely worth a thought!

;)

I've got the itch and I've got it bad. I know I don't need the power but my i7 920 @4Ghz has lasted very well.
It will all depend on the motherboard prices, not prepared to spend £200+ on a board so I might have to wait longer than 2 weeks for more choice and prices to settle a little.

We can never be the cheapest on every item to the penny, but on an overall X99 basket, CPU, RAM and motherboard we hope to be as close as possible to our in stock rivals, we will never match companies with no stock. We shall do our best!

OK maybe if you're listening my post may help. Obs you can pass this on.

Recently (about five weeks ago now) I was in the market for a new PC. I priced it up here, and on competitors, and you couldn't even get within £300.

Every time I see some one post a link here it takes me about five minutes to beat the price. Well, aside from B stock any way.

I'd like to order more from OCUK, but the fact is you always work out to be more expensive. The last product I bought from you was a reboxed 6970L. Before that Razer Boomslang 2007 for £35. Before that a Zalman V3000F which was cheaper than your competitor (there was only one..).

Since then? it's always been cheaper elsewhere.

I also had issues with your RMA. When my 6970L failed I requested an RMA, but instead of the company just saying "Hey, send it back" they started quoting loads of BS rules on me about restocking fees ETC.

That scared me off and I ended up RMAing back to MSI in Holland.

There's one company who does RMA right. The people on the other end of the phone are not computer junkies and thus won't sit and argue the toss with you over something. Obviously I can't mention their name, but they have it right. You phone up (free I may add none of this 087 nonsense) and they say "OK" and generate an RMA for you.

I've had issues with numerous companies getting all uppity when I want to return something and then going out of their way to prove a point, screwing me over (by being blind).

If OCUK can offer better than that, and, prices that are at least within the margin of error? I would have dumped over £3k with you.

But as of now? it just ain't happening mate.

Any way possibly helpful post now over (or annoying, if you don't take criticism too well..)

I won't be 'upgrading' to X99. I recently bought a 3970x for £350 and a MSI BBXPII for £220.

The chances are that the 5820k may push ahead on raw power? this will remain to be seen. I have my 3970x to 4.8ghz and it has all of the lanes. Which of course I need, given that I have two Titan Blacks.

So the 5820k could have been an upgrade path for me but I need the GPU bandwidth and the 5930k ain't gonna be £350.

Yep. Can't help myself. Done it since Northwood. Gibbo are you at liberty to give a rough ETA on the ASUS ROG? I'm guessing it won't be available at the end of the month.
