Wow, look how terrible things were before the last Labour term made huge improvements.

Well it does usually take a few years for policies to be fully comprehended, doesn't it? It's not instant. What's even better is poverty has basically stayed around the same despite the financial crisis. There's good on both parts, there's failing on both parts, surely anyone can agree upon that.

It's just plain lies though when it comes to labour supporters talking about poverty like it's never been worse. It's one of the agenda's they pushing so hard, yet facts would say otherwise.

I assume that stats aren't going to form any part of any future points you try to make then, since the debating bar is now set at a level where it can just be claimed that the stats aren't reflecting the situation on the ground.

When did the party say that? If the party wanted him gone then they would have picked someone else in the leadership election.

Well just found out today May has dropped the ivory ban which even China has signed up to. So fox hunting and killing elephants. What a ******** this country is turning into under May and her cronies. It's all money money money.

An absolute disgrace :(

The ivory ban hadn't been enforced at all since it was introduced, it was a complete waste of money as it's a nightmare controlling. what's going to happen now is direct help to the source rather than doing it this end.

Source? What direct help? The new ban was going to be a ban on all ivory trade. I agree the old ban was useless as everybody just passed off new ivory as old and got past the regulations. China and USA have even signed up for it but not use.

So long as there is a market for ivory, elephants will keep getting killed. Atm the moment there are 13 elephants a day been killed for their ivory. Remove the market, remove the problem. Butane of Mays friends heads up the UK antique trade and persuaded her it would cost the market money. It's always about money.

So what has May promised they are going to do stop the elephants being slaughtered at source? Are we sending troops?

Fed up with all this hypocrisy. Our policticians will say it's sad that elephants are been killed so we will send money to help but keep buying the ivory or its sad that civilians are been bombed and killed so we send aid but we will keep selling the people doing the bombing, the weapons they are using cause if we didn't somebody else will.

We should be leading the world and setting an example.

Source is several friends i have that deal with this on the front line in Kenya. They own conservation parks. The problem with the ban was when it was introduced, it led to a huge spike in poachers, understandable as the poachers themselves were not to know that these regulations wouldn't eventually work, and what the poachers resorted to was extreme violence of the conservation guards, burnt alive and tortured, to set an example so to speak. What will happen now instead of wasting money with government officials sitting at desks, the government will work with organisations on the front line.

Really? As I have friends over there right now seeing elephants been killed every day. The uk is doing nothing. You seriously don't think banning ivory trade full stop would stop or reduce poaching?

What do your friends do? Where abouts are they?

Do you not think the money would be better spent tackling the issue at source rather from this end?

Drugs are illegal, does that stop the industry?
