Porridge... during the lockdown I rediscovered it and now eat it almost every day.

Always made slowly on the hob and with proper oats - never microwaved and I don't use sachets.

Eaten every other day when made with coconut milk and frozen berries or a mashed banana. No sugar.

I sometimes scrunch a wheat biscuit in too or add a teaspoon of drinking chocolate for coco porridge ;)

Kavanagh Organic Porridge Oats from Aldi #omnomnom

I came to post the very same thing! If you have an Aldi near you then get this, the texture is amazing. I like mine with a couple of those lindor balls mixed in.

I normally buy the 75p/Kg Aldi oats, thought I'd try a bag of Kavanagh after reading these posts, and I have to say, I'm now a convert!

Twice the price, but are they twice as nice?

I'd say not, but there's enough of a difference to make them my default porridge oats from now on.

Very yummy.

That was my route to them. The cheap ones don't taste bad, but their texture is mushy and clumpy. The Kavanagh oats have better taste and vastly superior texture. The oat flakes retain their integrity but release starches to create a creamy sauce.

Brought some oat milk for the first time this morning and it's definitely changed the game. It makes the oats themselves a little more gloopy but the flavour is so much more intense then something like Almond (tastes bland), Soy (tastes like beans) or milk (tastes like sick).

Anyone else throw Linwoods seed mix in with their porridge? My mom turned me onto it a few months back and I can't have a bowl without it now. Can't say it adds much flavour but I kind of dig the texture it gives.

I've been trying oat milk in my overnights oats with soy yoghurt. Trying to see if my stomach enjoys mornings a little more without all that dairy (so far, no difference lol - I think I am just allergic to mornings). Oat milk is surprisingly nice, but you can't avoid the dregs when used in tea or coffee :(

Got around to opening a tin of mango pulp this morning, a few spoons nicely jazz up the oats flavour.
My girlfriend roasted some rhubarb from the grocers last week. That was lush!

I eat flavahans. Have done for about 3 years. A small bit of honey normally for me.

I might try mixing it up a bit now! My dad eats his with walnuts lol

Well guys, in the end I eventually migrated away from porridge... to just oats, milk and honey. Not sure what the exact reason is but I think porridge became inconvenient to make and eat vs oats due to the time cooking it and then the time it needed to cool down etc. When I am waking up in the morning after workouts then my starved brain took the easy option and then it became routine. *shrugs* :o

Maybe one day I will return to porridge. :D

I've got a few packs of porridge oats stocked up.

Porridge is effortess to make, 70g oats to 350ml milk, stir in a bowl with whatever flavours you want and 4-5 mins in the microwave mixing a couple of times in between.

I'd never willingly give up porridge as my brekkie, never!
