Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

The reclining buckets are not as good as the old school fixed buckets I had in my GT3. I was in a 991 GT3 the other week and didn't like them as much, didn't feel as cosseting.

Honestly spending as much as you do to run your car would drive me mad.

Hit 10 years ownership last week. The first 8 cost virtually nothing, and I know there are a few other things to change on the horizon .

Still, it's part of the family now. My dog's got cronky hips, but I haven't reached for the shotgun yet....

good news on the buckets. I can get the new light weight buckets without any dealt. Mid November delivery.

Ah I did not know you had it that long. That's a different story.

Nope fancy an early one. Driven my mates and I reckon one of the sweetest cars I've driven...
Could you not stretch to a S?

Possibly - depends on what is about when I'm in the position. Didn't like another mates S that is 6 months younger as it has aircon etc. and didn't drive anywhere as nicely.

Does anyone have any useful information or links to something akin to a "Cayman S buying guide"?

I'm thinking along the lines of what options are essential, any critical servicing requirements to look out for and so on. Any tips about regularly failing or regularly modded parts would also be good to know.

At this point, I'm not too worried about buying "approved used" and going down the warranty route, but maybe there's some informed opinion out there that could change my mind?

Thanks!

I would want a Gen 2 car they have rock solid engines if you find a car with a little bit of warranty left on it you can renew the warranty and get the 111 point check done before the old warranty expires so anything that comes up will be covered.

Or if you find a car without a warranty just pay Porsche to do the 111 point check on it.

For me I am a big fan of PDK, sports chrono is a must if you have a PDK car I would not bother in a manual, sports exhaust is nice in a 911 I don't know how important it is in a Cayman.

Very! IMO.

I have been meaning to get the GoPro out and record mine, as it sounds like a Porsche race when its enabled and its pretty much on all the time. It's also very loud. However, I not sure of the S and the GTS have the same systems.

The major down side though, is the fuel consumption mines a bit woeful at the moment. :o :p

It's new car time for me and I want a Macan but not getting much joy leaving messages with dealerships. Looking for a contract hire company car.

If it's going to be a year plus as I fear, I may just get another X5. Anyone have any concrete(ish) info on Macan build times?

Edit

Skidder, made a quick call.

There is a Macan D with nice spec, uk car, supplied by a uk Porsche dealer available for delivery next week. Silver brand new at list Price.

Let me know if you want the contact it will be gone by the weekend.

I do not have access to my truest email so post here and I will message you.

Skidder, if you are really serious I can probably help you out as I have a couple of contacts would you mind UK spec RHD import? I think you would make a bit of a saving on list price and can order for delivery now.

Note my trust email is not working just at the moment.

Cheers Dr H, I am serious about getting one but need it financed as a company car preferably as contract hire rather than me using a bank loan or cash. Does your contact deal with the financing aspect? my trust works if you want to drop me a line. Many thanks

edit: Sorry I was a bit slow. That's a touch too quick as I'm on hols next week and my x5 deal ends right at the end of August

Message sent via trust with my contact and contact of the dealer that has the car. I also know another guy who has 3 in stock but he wants £2k over list so this is a better deal.

Is it actually possible to get a 981 Cayman / Boxster GTS without an epically long waiting time at the moment?

I think you may struggle to order one at all, from I last heard. I was told that most dealers have sold all their allocation of the Cayman / Boxster GTS models.
