So far:
- Don't like the electric steering... for electric steering, it's not terrible... but I prefer hydraulic
- 2.9l engine is too down on torque compared to the 3.4l - but it does rev nicely
- PDK2 is blisteringly fast - no sport chrono so I'm not sure what that would be like - but in sport mode the over-blips on the downshifts are much more pleasant... otherwise it seems more boring than my PDK, quicker is nice but I miss the kick
- For a non-sports-exhaust model, it sounds like it has one
- Front-end turn-in is beautifully pin sharp, very pleasant, slight improvement from mine
- Don't like the new centre console when actually using it... the buttons feel more plasticy than the old version and the layout isn't as easy to use - the gearstick is too high and it gets in the way of quite a few of the controls

Is that the Cayman?

You sure it's a 2.9l?

I thought all the 981's were 2.7l or 3.4l

You might be right, I assumed 2.9, could well be 2.7

Either way... I missed the torque from my 3.4 and was quite happy to get her back.

I'll get a full gel done at some point, think I can improve the turn in on the boxster to behave a little more like this.

I'd like to try this newer PDK with sport chrono... I bet that's an awesome combo... Thing I miss the most about the Cayman is the exhaust note and over-blips on downshifts... Otherwise I generally prefer my 987.2

I bet the GT4 will be an awesome drive

I liked the updated instrument cluster too... Although it seems the cpu isn't quite up to the job yet, it will probably be better next generation... It felt laggier and slower in operation than mine and the transitions from vehicle info to nav could be quite jerky... Otherwise pleasant to look at and use.

So I put a deposit on something new today. I'm going to fly back to the U.K. To pick it up early next week.

GT silver on espresso leather. I have not seen the leather in real life but I hope it's nice. The car has 32k worth of extras ok it

Mine goes like a bat out of hell when in that mode, saying that I pretty much leave it in that mode all the time. :D

Yep but no one will ever know I changed my car as this one is also GT silver, but the spec on this one is just amazing including burmester audio, PDCC, sunroof and around 5 or 6k of extra bits of leather:D

Nice! GT Silver with Espresso is a lovely combination - I have seen and sat in the same combo in the dealer. Great spec with Burmester and PDCC - looking forward to seeing some pics.

I have not picked it up yet but hopefully next week. Crazy spec I was not looking to buy but I could not pass this up.

I'm extremely jealous! :D

I take it that's the original order form and not yours? Otherwise you've been waiting a very long time :p

WOW thats some options list on there, looks like the only thing its missing is the PCCB's.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Its nice to see a highspec car, as most are a light to medium spec. However, I can't say anything due to the spec of mine. :o

Ahah no the owner could not be bothered to list the spec so he just posted a photo of the options list. I really hope the sale does not fall through.

I feel like I always see you posting about buying these cars and finally you've actually bought one lol. :o

duno, normally people here flame me for not keeping my cars long enough, this will be my 8th Porsche now :D

EDIT: or was that not aimed at me?

if it had PCCB's and 18 way seats it would probably be the ideal spec. The car I have now is GT Siliver on black and its still a amazing spec but I wanted the upgraded sound system, sunroof and keyless entry / go.

Porsche develops Cayman GT4 Clubsport
New race car for motorsport newcomers

Suttgart. Using the lightweight Cayman GT4 as the basis, Porsche Motorsport has developed a near-standard racing version. The Cayman GT4 Clubsport celebrates its world premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show on 18 November. Sales of the 283 kW (385 hp) mid-engine racer for motorsport newcomers also start on this date.

Just like its race-worthy production sibling, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport is powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine. The racing version features a Porsche double clutch transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel and a mechanical rear-axle locking differential. The lightweight suspension strut front axle is taken from its big 911 GT3 Cup brother, which is campaigned in Porsche’s 20 one-make championships around the world. The impressive racing brake system is fitted with steel brake discs all round measuring 380-millimetre in diameter. Tipping the scales at just 1,300 kilograms, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, delivered ex-works with a welded-in safety cage, a racing bucket seat as well as a six-point harness, is truly lightweight.

Orders for the new Cayman GT4 Clubsport can be made at Porsche Motorsport in Weissach, or from Porsche Motorsport North America for the US market. For 2016, homologation is planned for race series such as the Pirelli World Challenge, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada and for club races run by the Porsche Club of America as well as for other club-level meetings around the world.

Detailed information as well as photos are available from 18 November on the occasion of the world premiere of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
