Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

The one that got stuck in was enough in that I could have unscrewed one of the cylinders from the new shim and done it that way... but I persisted and went to get some extra tools. Ended up spending £140ish on new tools, only needed the magnet and penetrant spray lol

Haha I tried to do that on mine but buggered a couple of screws on the new dampener and just thought I'd reuse for now as I started at half 5 and the light was drawing in.

Mad for selling it :) For me, no car ticks as many boxes as the GT4 does. Apart from a 991 GT3 RS (keep dreaming), or more realistically a Boxster Spyder, I honestly can't think of a car that I want more.

I will wait and see but I think a 991 GTS will tick more boxes for me.

I've been getting itchy feet for a 991 GTS, as I've been looking this week. However, the current crop of ones on the Porsche site don't seem to tick the boxes.

I guess PCCB's seems quiet a rare option, as I just love the peddle feel you get back through them.

It will be hard to find one with PCCB's maybe just keep a eye for one that has the spec you want and retrofit them. I assume you can get the parts on ebay for £5 to £8k.

I think I will keep the car I am picking up next week until I find a 991 GTS closer to £75k so maybe a year or 2.

Thought I would share my experience this morning down at the Porsche showroom this morning.

Last week I received an email from Porsche inviting me to:

Fascination Sports Car.

Looked intriguing

So I registered and ended up completely missing my appointment on Friday morning, so randomly walked in at 9.30am this morning where I was quickly ushered to fill out a waiver and joined into what I assumed to be a driving briefing. So I went along with it and the next thing I knew I was being told that we would be driving six different vehicles for 10-15mins each. Ok cool - this sounds like fun, I thought. We we then asked to pick a car - I went for the slowest.

Car 1 - Cayenne
Intersting not an S, GTS or anything special - it was specced with a lovely two tone Espresso/Cognac natural leather. Nothing special to report other than its a quiet and refined ride through heavy dubai city traffic. The wife especially liked the car and the 2016 interior really is rather nice.

Car 2 - Macan S
I was keen to drive this car - and we are considering it for a replacement car for the wife (between this and a Cayenne). First impression was that the interior was not a patch on the Cayenne. The seating position was low slung and given a little bit of open highway the performance was pleasing but I was left feeling a little bit short changed and it cemented the decision that a Cayenne would be better for the Wife

Car 3 - Panamera E-Hybrid
My current ride is a Panamera GTS so getting into this was familiar territory. The in car infotainment screen had amazing graphics displaying which power train was working and how much you were getting from each but ultimately a bit distracting. I had plenty of opportunity to get my foot down and get some fast corners in as we were well out of the city by then but I left disappointed. Having had the GTS for 2.5 years now and driving this it was kind of like going from full fat double cream milk to full skimmed UHT. You know its suppose to be the same on the outside and do the same job but on sampling you realise it's a very pale, insipid version. (maybe one day when I don't have to worry about the price of petrol)

Car 4 - 911 Turbo
Woooohoooo - so much go, so beefy, so so so much fun. I had to back off a little bit as my wife started to complain it was making her feel sick. Suffice to say this is simply brilliant. I had a 997.2 911 Turbo for a while and there is simply no comparison. There is now no boost gauge or turbo lag. Just simple brain melting G-force delivered in an almost stealth fighter mode. All too soon my time was up and I was left dreaming about could I live only with a 2+2 again...

Car 5 - 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet
The last time I was on a Porsche day - I left that day hankering after a 911 C4S so was excited to be able to to drive this. Sadly though having driven the 911 Turbo back to back the whole drive in this was....disappointing is the only word I could describe it. I should probably try again without having just driven a turbo

Car 6 - Boxster S
This was for me was the biggest surprise. i really enjoyed driving it - we were back in the city so I could not really open it up but it was super nimble and responsive. Interestingly my wife seemed to like it vs the 911's (this is a good thing) and even said at the end of the drive that it would be ok for me to look at getting one (I did not expect that)

So getting back to the dealer I had a chance to enjoy some of the laid on food and drink and also check out the special displays they had on:

The Dubai Police Panamera E-Hybrid

The very lovely 918:

The GT4

It was all a bit overwhelming if I am honest. The dealership in Dubai is brand new and is spread over three floors. What I did start thinking was a Boxster GTS or maybe even a Boxster Spyder might very well be on the cards at some point.
(sorry for the long post)

wow that must have been fun.

the SE Hybrid is not all that good on fuel, over the last 12 000 miles my wife (ex soon) has got 25 mpg.

It certainly was and is brilliant marketing from Porsche - I have been dreaming about a new car now for the last couple of days....

Are you not enjoying the PDK in your GTS?

Yea, it's a awesome bit of bit. However, it's weird as you don't realise how quick you are going like you do with a stick. I'd probably get some stick for this no pun intended but I'd choose a PDK over a manual but for some reason that's peaked my interests as I know didn't get on with the manual in the GTS

I guess it's a little bit of you want want you can't have some respects.

I get what you mean. My auto M135i would make progress like it was nobody's business, but because all I had to do was hold on, I didn't get the feeling that I was making it go fast.

However, I will say that I love good autos and manuals in equal measures. For every time I get a kick out of slamming it into 3rd, I curse the repetitive 1st --> 2nd shifts when stuck in traffic.
