Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Nice driving. How tall do you think the drive is?

Looks like he's sitting really close to the wheel.

200 miles form home and I got a puncture, Porsche assist where amazing and are going to pick up the car from where I left it and deliver it to me 200 miles away.

Was in Porsche Silverstone today having a chat. I think 991 GTS is where I'm going, now need to find the right spec.

Completely agree but get a GTS4 if you can. I think that would me my ideal car.

The GT4 is really not practical at all. I can't even get it up the driveway.

What options do you want? For me it would be PDK, 18 way seats as a minimum.

so I sold the 996 turbo a few weeks ago...

Got 30k from a trader for it, nice 5k profit :) Miss it though!

Thought it might be worth at least 5 grand more looking on pistonheads. Im looking at part ex mine in a year or 2 for a gts cab 997 or 991 manual which is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Sold the turbo too early. They are on the way up.

So, sent this review to a friend of mine by email earlier today. Thought I should share on here.

"So, I thought I should wait a few days before I gave you a little summary on the GT4. Written on the back of a fag packet and not be used against me in the future J

Loads of positive interest – EVERYONE and I mean literally everyone including family, the kids piano teacher, my builders and loads of people just walking on the street LOVE the car. I think the car looks fantastic as well and constantly find myself gazing at it.

Throttle response – really nice and lots of torque low down. In normal mode the car seems pretty eager and funnily enough with sports exhaust on the sound is not that much louder.

Sound – best sounding car I have ever owned alongside the CSL. 991 50th was great as well but wasn’t as natural as the GT4. Haven’t even yet got past 4500 RPM so I guess the sound will be even better once I open it up.

Power – hard to tell as trying to run it in for a little bit. Feels similar to the 991 50th. Ok, sure I am used to more but in reality I can’t see many instances where I would miss the power of the Turbo or GTR. I wonder if that will change.

Steering – I am so impressed with it. The car is so nimble, pointy and manoeuverable. It makes it really easy to drive as a daily due to it’s size and how nicely weighted the steering is. Not had a chance to test the handling that much but in low speed roundabouts it’s already fun.

Ride – Surprisingly good. Not uncomfortable or too hard. Yes, it’s firm but certainly nowhere near as harsh as I thought it may be. No issues on speed bumps either and going into my driveway which is a big bonus.

Interior – one of my favourite bits. I love the interior and the spec I put in. Really feel it needs the carbon and leather. Sound package plus is also pretty decent. I take phonecalls regularly, switch from radio to ipod etc. as well.

Gearbox – brilliant gearbox. Not comparing it against much as in recent years the only manuals I have had are the E46 M3, 123D and the 997 C2S. 1000 times better than all of those. The only gearbox that can compare that I have driven is the B7 RS4 gearbox that you had. That was very nice but still not as good as the GT4.

Bucket Seats – so this is at the moment my one negative. Getting in and out is not really an issue. Yes, a bit of hassle but you get used to it. Still trying to find the perfect driving position as they don’t recline and are quite upright. Height adjustment is useful but not sure if it’s my legs but I don’t like to stretch for the clutch but at the same time I don’t like to sit too forward and upright. Trying to resolve that at the moment. I am also quite broad shouldered so if I wear a coat when I drive I think it makes me a little more uncomfortable. But once you are in and in the right position the seats are excellent.

Once I can really open the car up will give me better idea and am finding it really hard not to just nail it but trying to be a little sympathetic at the moment."

I've been looking and they are pretty few and far between and the ones are on-sale are a low / medium spec.

Try and find a car thats not a PDCC car, with Buckets & PCCB's and a few other nice things is proving very hard / impossable.

So i'm sticking with mine for a long while, I think.

Your never going to find a car with buckets and PCCB. Why don't you want the PDCC? I have had it and I'm quite impressed

I know there are cars out there with my ideal spec, but they are not for sale. I also missed the aerokit as well. :D

The demo car I had this feature and I wasn't too impressed with it as it made the car feel un-natural. I guess the best way I can describe is you when you enter a corner in the car and you can feel the car adjusting itself in the corner, it’s a very unnatural feeling. It also had the power steering plus option which was put simply was awful.

Yes, it's notably quicker than a non PDCC car on a track but as I drivers car I wouldn't spec it on the car as that 911 feel gets somewhat muted.

Don't see the point of a 4WD 911 really unless it has bags of power. The 911 has never lacked traction and the 4WD's are heavier and lose steering feel, which to me is an important part of the Porsche experience and what they seem to have got wrong in the more recent 911.

However, spec wise I think blue or red, no sunroof, buckets or sports seats fine, prefer manual but likely will go PDK due to lack of manuals, would like carbon rotors, definitely want 20mm sports suspension, no assisted steering (devils work) and turbo wheels. Would like BOSE, phone prep and cruise but frankly most come with that and the nicer lights. Want alcantara over leather ideally black with red stitching.

Outside of that I am open to ideas. They had 2 in OPC Silverstone awaiting new owners, silver one and a horrible green one that matches the 1974 IROC colour which I am far too unbrave to buy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that unlike previous generations the generally accepted view was the 4wd cars were actually a better drive than their 2wd siblings?

I may be wrong though...
