Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Hey when I decide I want something, I just go and buy it! :D

The problem is when I have it and trying to decide what to buy for it, deciding on wheels was a nightmare, just like Housey is trying to decide on a car. :D

So do I normally that was my point. But what is there is not exciting me and what isn't is, but not at the price point I feel comfortable at. I've other mates in the same place previous owners who just feel the current GT market is in a different place that WILL crash. You can usually tell when as its usually the day after I buy! :D

10 years ago I'd be in a 991 GT3 already and I'm far better off now so shows my mind/mojo is in a different place I guess.

It sounds to me like you have already picked the car you want but needs some justification. :D

However, reading on pistionheads this is a bit annoying and also shows the scale of flipping the limited edtion cars.

This has been pulled from PH(GT4):

- 34 for sale (across OPC network, Pistonheads and Autotrader)

- Prices range from £93,900 to £115,000 of which 14 under £100k, 17 over, 3 unknown at this point

- Mileage range from 4 miles to 2,300 of which only 3 have done more than 1,000 miles

So that's 34 GT4's cars that could have gone to people who wanted to buy the car!

I hate the culture of flipping (Hi iceman) but I can get that someone might have bought into the hype and secured a car only to have done 500 miles in it and not be that enamoured, certainly not enough to turn down an easy 30k profit. Obviously delivery mileage cars were bought with one intention but I doubt that all 34 were bought so cynically.

I don't know why anyone would want to waste their time watching that dribbling slack-jawed buffoon buy anything. I cannot stand his or any of the other "super car vlogger" videos.

I can't stand his voice.... I too don't get the obsession.

Slightly uncalled for I feel - I too hate flipping, and my 911R was not a flip, nor even a negotiated deal. Someone came to my dealer and flat out offered $175k over for an allocation. I was number one on the list and my salesman referred the offer. I had zero intention of flipping, nor did I ask for anyone to "bid" for my slot. It's just hard to turn down an outrageous offer like that, out of the blue.

I drive my cars, a lot. I planned on doing a lot of miles in the R, I don't believe in garage queens.

So you flipped it then.

If you're unable to tell the difference between someone buying one with an intention to make a profit (listing at above sticker price, bidding wars, no intention of owning or driving it) to someone who intends to own the car, then I don't know what to tell you.

Oh the stories I (can't) tell about the GT4 allocations....

It's price of doing business these days, Porsche is undersupplied and over demand due to speculators talking up the market and people diving in, can't blame them, it is what it is. Chatting with a buddy yesterday (he is on here but rarely posts). He's had a few 911's, 2 GT3's, but is in a similar state of mind and tiredness at the whole thing as I am, but he said an interesting thing.

He said "do you notice how rare it is to see a GT3 or even GT4 on the road these days" and do you know what, he's right. I say that because they stand out to me and he lives in London too. "It's because they're all locked away in garages or air bubbles with people who are too scared to drive them or who have simply bought them to make money".

You're right. I presume it's because the people that really wanted to buy them to drive all accidentally sold them to other people way above list.

I hate to admit it but I'm more and more tempted to let the GT4 go. I have interest at 105k.

I now work in central london so I get the train in. There is a Panamera in the way and I have the 991 along with the Gt4. I have always had my eye on a 458 but never really thought I could afford / justify it. However with such a big premium on the Gt4 it would be doable for me.

Also I'm more or less guaranteed to be getting into the next GT911.

Housey. As gibbo said the 991 GTS is a very special road car but the Gt4 is really something else you just can't compare the sound, the steering and suspension.

Even if you pay 100k (list at 75k) and the ass falls out of the market your still not going to get less than 80k back for it in 2 years. Worst case you have lost 20k which I assume you would do on any Audi RS or Bmw M car.

Send me the spec of yours if you sell, you have my email address. I might be swayed to pay overs, but I will moan a lot and call you a hunt.

The 93K cars are still 25-30k overs as they are based spec models. The new one will be out this year, PDK and manual and that will see the current ones fall.

The ~£30k you'll make on the GT4 is the difference between you owning a 458 or not? That doesn't sound right to me.

EDIT: I guess it's doable - link.

Don't be ashamed, you made more money from that deal than most people will in 3 years. But it's literally the definition of flipping a car.

Oh I'm not, and I do agree with you, it is flipping in the literal sense of the word.

However, I didn't even take delivery. We aren't allowed to have bidding wars on allocations here, but you can step out, as I did. The person who took my spot is a big client of theirs, with a huge collection.

I was immensely lucky to get the R allocation. Dealer screwed up on my RS so they gave me first refusal on the R. Would've definitely kept my spot, but I'd have to be stupid to turn down that offer.

I do have a major issue with taking a build slot that was available at msrp, taking delivery and then selling instantly.
