Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I had another chat with my mate who took the GT4 for a drive today and he was of the view it was a sharper drive than his 991 GT3, he would say better, not faster, but he said "if I had to sell the GT3 and cancel the RS I would not feel short changed left with a GT4".

Quite a statement.

Just a quick q. Do any of you use the Durametric diagnostic software or the Icarsoft device to read codes/program functions? On Audi/VW cars I own I use VAG-Com but sadly it doesn't work on Porsche.

What's the leadtimes on a PTS / LTS car now days? 10 months? Also what are the thoughts on the Electric slide/tilt glass sunroof or Electric slide/tilt sunroof options?

What be the choice of these PTS colours:

Gulf Orange
Voodoo Blue
Riviera Blue
Mexico Blue

A friend of mine who has a gt3 and a turbo has said Porsche have told their dealer network to sharpen up massively on who is getting limited order cars because of the amount of speculation going on which has meant loads of gt4's have been taken offline. Did anyone notice that?

Yep, totally ruins the back end for me.

I did agree with this until I got the car but it looks quite good in real life. There is also something very satisfying seeing it out of the rear view mirror.

I think the cars are taken offline because the dealers have been told to stop selling them at big overs.

At the end of the days its amazing marking for Porsche. Idiots like me buy cars that the would not normally based on a promise that they will get into a GT car next. It creates a buzz around the brand when people buy the cars because they are so good that they sell out years before they are released. You can't buy marking like that.

If you pay for it...I imagine the premiums will be significantly higher or have a number of exclusions

I'm not sure, they're obviously confident if it passes the 111 point check that anything that would have been expensive to blow up would have done by now.

That warranty is good news for peasants like me who are looking at late 996's/early 997's! I wouldn't really want to buy a 10+ year old 911 which didn't pass a 111 point check.

Imo this doesn't replace a proper inspection by a good, experienced independent Porsche specialist. Many of them will also put a proper warranty on your car if they've inspected it, or if it has history with them (which is likely less than what Porsche are asking for).

OPCs are highly variable. Hatfield were utterly useless for me. Wasted my time repeatedly with what should have been a simple TPMS issue and a suspension problem on my Panamera. They even tried to tell me there wasn't an issue simply because it was intermittent. In the end I had to buy new sensors and sort the TPMS bits myself. This was an issue definitely covered under warranty. The suspension noises were fixed by an Indie who knew what they were doing re-torqueing the front subframe.

I'd hate to imagine the run around one would have with something more major at an OPC. In general, you will get monkeys working on your car unless you make a fuss.

How much is it?

The check I have always got for free but normally they do it for around 180.

The warranty without the breakdown cover is about 1800 for 2 years.

Numbers are from memory but it's about that.
