Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Was the engine pressure tested / leak down test, as I'm not sure if they do they on the 111 point check.

If its struggling to fire on all cylinders are fuel lines / fuel pressure ok? Also when where the coil packs / plugs last changed?

Don't believe so but they road test it so lack of power etc would surely show up?

Don't know about the plugs/coils so they were something I wanted changing as part of a service.

This is when an OPC warranty would come in handy. Give them the car and let Porsche pay to replace random parts until it works again whilst you drive around in a 2015 Boster S or something for a few days.

Good luck with the repair, simple sounding stuff like this can easily run into thousands with a 911.

This could be so much but it sounds like a air leak either at the intakes or a gearbox sensor or a fuel issue (a bit less likely I feel).

I recently changed my AOS and while I was there changed all the intake seals, cleaned up the throttle body etc.

I would be tempted to strip down all the intake and look it all over (can be DIY'd in a day). The other things to check are all the items that commonly go and would cause changes to the crank case pressure so AOS, oil filler tube etc.

Can you get it on a computer or take it to somebody who knows them well? You would probably be able to listen to it and get a good idea if it is an intake leak.

edit: just realised yours is a tip as well, cross your fingers and hope that the AOS is fine, replacing them is engine out on the tip, you can get away with using the force on a manual.

Porsche warranty is only for cars upto 10yrs old or 100,000 miles, your all out of luck mate. :(

Dude they changed it copy and pasted from the site...:

To be eligible to purchase either a Porsche Approved Warranty policy or a Porsche Assistance policy, your Porsche:
•must be less than 14 years old for a one year policy or less than 13 years old for a two year policy
•have a mileage of less than 125,000 miles
•have undergone a 111-point vehicle condition check carried out (this is chargeable)

Edit: Clearly I was looking at the wrong page or something... ignore the post.

Local garage has said I can get the parts and they will help me fit them. Big help due to not having a ramp and needing to work on engine underneath. They've worked on Porsches before.

Randomly replacing parts based on what people tell you over the internet or a garage guessing is going to get very expensive very quickly.

I also don't think you'll find a single garage in the country that hasn't worked on Porsches before - it doesn't mean they're experts or will know the intricate workings of your engine.

Where in the country are you? Get the codes read and you could save yourself a lot of time and money.

Sorry guys in Midlands. I'm not going to waste money replacing parts. Only service items like brakes etc. For the problem I'll get it checked out of course. Sorry for confusion.

Any recommendations for 4-wheel alignment on 911s? I know Centre Gravity are the best but quite far from London. OPCs can generally do it but aren't that knowledgeable especially for the price they charge.

From what I have read on various forums, CG are very highly rated. Id be looking to do a day trip to them to set the car up.

It's not that far from London to be fair, sub 2 hours.

Thanks Andy and House. Will give wheels in motion a try.

Skip, if I were to need a specific track setup and corner weights, yes I'd make the trip. But couple of hours to get there, 3-4 hours to do the work, couple of hours to get back. Thats a full day, which is a massive luxury for me nowadays in terms of car pampering.

Beru or Bosch for spark plugs and coils? I was thinking Bosch but Beru are the original equipment?
What part numbers are best as 2 different types of plugs?

Looked how to do them as well as oil and filter change.

*looks* reasonably simple. Just need a ramp and take wheels off.

Specced up a new 718 online today. Start putting the (required) options on and it starts getting very expensive very quickly. So much so I honestly can't see the point in going for one with any gear over any other car Porsche offer!

I went to the new Wolverhampton OPC this morning for a nose around. It was like a Cayman GTS showroom with 2 or 3 other cars. Very poor stock, very poor experience, disappointing.
