Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Sorry lads, to be clear the hard top for the cab is 33kg with all interior pieces and glass. If you remove the fabric top and frame before fitting you actually put the car on a diet as even though the roof is made of an alloy and magnesium frame fully laden with electronic, fabric etc it is actually very heavy.

I am currently on a weight saving mission on mine so every KG counts. FWIW the new wheels are a start of this and are a total of 12kg lighter than my current rims. Going from lobsta's to BBS Sport classic 2 split rims.

Actively seeking a Panamera Turbo, started some research on servicing.

£555 whilst it's very reasonable for every 2 years on a performance car, it's seems a little harsh for an oil filter, air filter and pollen filter

Much more reasonable though than Astons oil and filter change for £1050 every year

£555 doesn't sound terrible if it holds silly amounts of oil like the 911, I think fixed rate on the 996 is something like £400 so it's not shocking. I have always fancied one and that rear wing on the new turbo is just a work of art.

This has to be the best GT3 deal on the market:

Due to the mileage it really a great price.

Of course I'd be worried about engine longevity as a daily with 150k miles, though it is the race proven and super strong metzger I believe.

Also the ceramics, if its still on originals, by now they could be due for a replacement which does not come cheap, budget around 10k.

But I have to say I am a little tempted, would have to be a keeper for life though, more an investment car and well hope the engine keeps going, lol.

Does have an OPC warranty until 2017.

Hats off to someone actually using it rather than tucking it away in a garage.

Safe as the bank of England mate, promise you!

That engine is cast from Gods bones (he's not real) and will easily do another 105K. Chap I know, proper quick sub 8 minute lapper of the Ring has a 996 GT3 with over 100K on it. I seem to recall (I might be miles off...but I think not) he stripped it down at 80kish and it was as new, I mean really, perfect compressions, oils, power, the whole 9 yards. I think the original GT3 engine is the only thing in the world that Chuck Norris would run from.

They are superb!
Good to see some Porsches do actually depreciate and don't just explode in price.

My only criticism of the 981 chassis and Boxsters in general, but more so 981 is within an hour your pushing it to the limits and beyond, its a bit to easy to drive very hard, but that could also be a fantastic applause of how great handling chassis it is, they drive like E46 M3's you can drive them incredibly hard and they are easy on the limits, still fun at low speeds as well. :)

It's that time of year again, yay! Does anyone have Porsche Insurance Services phone number? As it seems to have changed.

I'll be trying all the normal people like Manning etc... I'm not sure ill renew with A-Plan this year.

Edit: Found it.
