Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Seeing the new GT3 with a manual option gives me some hope that other manufacturers will follow suit and we'll see more sports cars with them again.

Won't hold my breath though! :p

Okay....

I'd ditch the following

*PDK - Give me the lightweight manual option
*Radio - The sound of the engine will be good enough
*Rear parking camera - This is for people who dont know how to park
*Smokers pack - I presume this is for people who smoke..... I love my lungs.
*Carbon Ceramics - Are these really need? I think not.
*Interior carbon trim - I dont see the point lol

Camera is useful when living in london.
Smokers pack because you get a extra charger and it covers the hole in that otherwise is a coin holder.

Carbon ceramics. lol no but I like the idea.

Carbon trim. To go with the seats. Looks epic.

A reverse camera wont stop people plowing into you though lol.

Each to their own I guess.... When it comes to parking. Im an expert.

Went to Porsche Silverstone today - I've found my Boxster replacement:

587 miles on the clock... been part of a collection.

Love the colour and don't normally like Orange... pictures don't do it justice at all - looks amazing in the flesh.

Happy with the spec - only thing it doesn't have that I would have liked is an upgraded audio package:

  • 20-inch GT3 wheel
  • Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way, electric)
  • Automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor
  • Bi-Xenon headlights in black incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
  • Cruise control
  • Digital radio
  • Exterior colour to sample
  • Floor mats
  • Heated front seats
  • HomeLink® 433 MHz
  • Mobile phone preparation
  • Painted headlamp cleaning system cover
  • Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB)
  • Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module with universal audio interface
  • Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
  • Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
  • Preparation outer door-sill guards, illuminated
  • Privacy glass (rear window)
  • Sound Package Plus
  • Sport Chrono Package incl. Porsche Track Precision App and preparation for laptrigger
  • Stainless steel door sill guards, illuminated
  • Voice control

Was also looking at a Turbo S in white/black with PCCBs and some other nice options... but I need to keep NA in my life. 9000RPM 3.8L flat-6 is too addictive.

Also in the process of buying a Caterham 620R with a friend - so the GT3 will be my daily with the odd track day and 620R is going to be track toy.

Sales guy has arranged a day at Silverstone Porsche Experience centre for me to test their GT3 and Turbo S back to back on track... I'm driving a friend's Zenos E10R at Silverstone GP circuit at the end of the month and then off to Spa and Zandvoort at the end of the may with the Zenos & Caterham :D :D :D

Got an epic few months of cars ahead of me :D

For me it would need buckets, club sport package and nose lift. Enjoy however, not my car, yours.

My choice would be along the same lines as Housey but man what a bit of kit. That colour is also very rare as I believe its Gulf Orange, oddly I had a GT4 drive past me on the way back from Bournemouth the other weekend in that colour and man does it look good in the flesh.

Congratulations, you can't beat the sound of a NA flat 6 with all its top end fireworks. :D

Yes. Gulf Orange... it's a gorgeous colour - haven't even seen it before.

I actually went to look at a '16 plate Turbo S... this car had only just come in an hadn't made it's way to the website yet. Fell in love with it straight away and even though the turbo might be faster in a straight line... the torque curve is too flat... whereas the GT3 springs to life and 4k and is so much more exciting and involving to drive.

The noise has got to be one of the best on the market at the moment IMO.

As for the Caterham, their residuals are so high they cost next to nothing to run. It's going to set us back less than £250/month each! Even maintenance and insurance are wonderfully cheap... £50 every 3 track days for an oil change, replace the brakes once per year even with regular track use, one service per year at £200 and recommended a yearly weighted geo at another £200 per year - amazing fun for the money. We were going to go for a Radical SR3, but the costs are much higher - so Caterham first then Radical in a few years... although the plan is for both of us to enter the SR1 noobie racing series in a couple of years time.

Forgot to mention nose lift... yes, I would have liked that option - but the rare colour and absurdly low mileage let me forget about that. Normally wouldn't choose a colour over an option like that - but I am quite smitten with it.

Didn't want club sport or buckets... the buckets are nice (they were in the Turbo S I was looking at) but I prefer the 18-way adjustable seats in this one... I also didn't want the roll cage in this car. If it had been destined to spend more time on track, then I would have reconsidered, but while it's going to be driven hard - it will only see maybe 1 or 2 track days a year and is going to be my main daily drive - perhaps with the exception of when I need to pop into some nasty London car parks ;)

Congrats crinkleshoes, you should really enjoy that. GT cars have a totally different feel to them than the rest of the range, something very special about them - they are exceptionally good value when you look at what you get, and far more than the sum of their parts.

Looking forward to it... just waiting on the final go ahead from finance company.

£30k down, £62k balloon and the rest over 36 months.

May I ask why it was £240,000, it seems really really expensive for a 991 GT3, is it because of colour and low miles m8?

EDIT: Ignore, need my eyes testing, £145,000, not so bad at all considering colour and miles.

Might I ask the monthly payment please?
