Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

How can you tell when dampers/springs need replacing? My issue is I'll probably sell my car next year and while I don't want to run it on a shoestring I don't see the point in changing something that doesn't need doing.

Dampness on the shockers themselves will be a sign, and anything more than surface corrosion on the springs I guess, should be picked up on a MOT

That just indicates that the dampers are knackered. They can stop being effective long before they start leaking. It then depends on how sensitive the car is to the damper performance degrading, as to whether you notice it.

Maybe get a ride another car like yours and compare, also check if the suspension has been modified in anyway as most modification worsen the ride quality for our lovely roads :D

I want to get an oil filter tool for a Boxster 2008, but I cannot find the right answer on the internet, some people say 76mm/14flute, some 74mm/14flute and some 74mm/15flute.
Does anyone know the right one?

Even that I bought the car with the service done 400miles ago, I will change the engine oil, filter and transmission fluid.
Will probably get Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 for the engine and Mobil Mobilube 1 SHC 75W-90

I always change oil and filters when I get a new car or bike, also I will know how much oil is in it and IF it consumes oil I will know how much.

Seems a waste of money and time if you ask me, if it's been serviced then stick to the manufacturers service schedule. Oils are that good these days all you'd be doing is throwing good oils away.

Managed to measure it, it is 74mm and 14flute

So all in £100
10L of engine oil
3L of gearbox oil
Engine oil filter
crusher washer
and oil filter tool

Not particular quick in a straight line, but damn can it maintain some seriously high speeds when cornering and those gear changes are rapid.

12.3 seconds quicker than previous model, not bad :D

Yes very impressive, am guessing the improvement comes from mostly the downforce improvements also note how planted it is, no sideways moments at all.

It does seem a great car, it can be planted or it can be an absolute hooligan, I want one so bad. :D

After watching episode 2 of the new top gear without that ginger idiot, I am utterly obsessed with the 911 Turbo S, it is a gorgeous car and can't get enough of it, unfortunately the closest I will ever get to driving one is in Assetto Corsa with my HTC Vive unless I win the lottery jackpot, then I will be down the local Porsche dealer before the cheque has even cleared!

I've driven a lot of nice stuff and both in wet and dry conditions. A car that left me the most impressed particular wet ability was a 997.2 Turbo S at Oulton Park. Its ability even in the hands of a none race driver was beyond amazing, you could drive the car absolutely flat out in really bad wet conditions on a tight circuit like Oulton Park and you could deploy all 500+ horsepower with ease. In the wet the car made stuff like GT3's look like they were not moving.

The only downside was it was so easy, but ability wise I have never driven a car as capable as a 911 Turbo in the wet, it even made a GTR look slow, but at the same time the GTR was more engaging. Porsche made the Turbo the ultimate go fast car in anybodies hands, it really is a super insanely fast car, but anyone can drive one at super insane speeds with half a brain cell. It gets boring quick as its just way too easy and unfortunately the new Carrera's have also gone this way you simply can't unstick them. The Caymans still remain good fun however even though they are also turbo charged the chassis is still playful.
