Big bill coming my way with my Cayman (987). The coolant hoses I knew needed renewing after I inspected them last year when doing the air con rads. As the full job involves dropping the front subframe I wasn't up for tackling that on jack stands. They weren't terrible, and weren't leaking yet - but I wanted them doing when I was able to + it was in for it's MOT anyway. This ended up being a bit more work as the bolts onto subframe/coffin arms were seized so we opted to cut through and replace the coffin arms as they were the originals anyway so I'd call it preventative maintenance
Unfortunately during the pre MOT inspection the rear brake pipes were found to be pretty shot and would need doing. They actually started leaking on the way to the MOT tester so decision made. I think the same problem occurs on the 986/996/997 as the pipe basically runs up and over the engine and transmission, and replacing with an OE pipe involves removing the engine...
