Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I drove the gts today and my god what a car! solidly built, looks in great condition and is an absolute weapon! It's had a service 2 years after build (16/07/20) at 5006 miles by a non porsche dealer (Acklam Car Centre - oil change, pollen filters and inspection) and the latest by Porsche in December/21 at 7603 miles (oil, inspection, brake fluid. spark plugs. drive belt check, 2 new rear tyres, air con, new wheel centre mouldings). Back again on monday with the mrs to have another look and also try a 981 spyder.

Dealers day insurance sheet, interestingly, states car value at £85 but its up for £97... Do Porsche haggle at all on their approved used (obvs not to 85!) ?

Regards general insurance, im assuming most will ask for a tracker to be fitted? Any recommendations for Porsche specialists / brokers to get quotes from so i know what im looking at. LV quoted £620 with a tracker but id need to get one bought and fitted

Edit: vodaphone fobs were in the glovebox so tracker looks sorted

Was at BrandsHatch with the 996 on Monday, was cold but dry and the Ohlins and Cup2 worked great, even when I had to go cross country to avoid a motor spinning in front of me :D

EDIT: to add some pics :)

Can someone explain to me the 992 driver cupholder please.

I take it you need to spec the smoker package then remove the ash tray which will leave a drink holder shape, otherwise without the smokers pack its a small bin/key holder ? Or have I got it completely wrong?

Finally getting around to uploading a few pics of the GTS. Absolutely loving it!!

2017 991.2 GTS in Sapphire Blue. Spec can follow if anyone's interested ;)

Having sold my E92 M3 for pretty much what I paid for it 3 years ago and having an electric for every day use I thought I'd see what the fuss was about with 911s. I can't believe I've waited so long, it feels special at any speed unlike the M3 which needed thrashing, sounds great and just feels precise. I've put over a thousand miles on in about 3 weeks on some long drives and it's not missed a beat. I got the PCCM+ installed which made the motorway parts of the journey much better. I think it's a keeper.

Nice to see some Pork’s getting bought. Even a rubbish (to some) 911 is brilliant. 996 great value right now and subjective stuff to one side, epic cars. 997 got a bit pricey again but still superb.

I love the looks of the 996 facelift. While the C4S is now commanding silly money, C2 and C4 cars seem to still be relatively well priced. Nice buy @r22snapper

EDIT: Really interesting regarding your E92 comparison. It’s a car I had always wondered about trying. Who wouldn’t want a V8 that revs to 8,000? Might not bother!

The steering is so full of feel compared to anything I've owned before, the suspension is a pretty much all new MO30 setup and it drives superbly. I'm a happy boy.
Go drive a 993, it's even better those you are comparing 2 parts of brilliance.

Steering is fabulous on that generation, never been better in my experience.

Cheers.

As far as the M3 goes, when I bought it I only had one car that I wanted to do everything and I still reckon for the price you won't find a better choice. It really does shrink around you when you're on it but the rest of the time it is a very comfortable 3 series, when I got a different everyday car I just wanted something more special all of the time. If you've never had an 8000 rpm V8 and you can then you definitely should. Slotting 3rd at 20mph, flooring it and hearing the engine change from a hammering American-sounding note, building through the midrange and screaming up to the limiter is an experience that I will definitely miss. The induction noise as well... I don't miss 200 miles from a tank though!

First track day in the GT4 done . It's very composed, bags of mid corner grip and can get on the power earlier than you think because of the NA delivery. There were a few moments where I thought 'that would have upset the 4C' and the GT4 just shrugged it off. Brakes are lacking, not even close to the Alfa and caught me out a few times before I adjusted. There is still some understeer in the geo even with maxed front camber, need to spend on shims and toe links to get to the 'next' geo level but still bags of fun as is. Having proper bucket seats and power steering is a godsend, full days in the 4C were absolutely exhausting.

Hope I can afford one or two more this year, £2.02 a litre at the onsite forecourt! Argh.

Hi there

So the Spyder got some TLC, new front splitter fitted and I removed the old one, cleaned it up and re-fitted with new 3M tape which will hopefully mean both will now stay securely fitted fingers crossed, some pictures:

I do love how the Spyder still looks so good with the roof up, it might be a bit of a pain though I find removing and refitting now takes no longer than 60s, but just look at it, as it just gives the Boxster incredible curves and flowing looks.

Not many left for sale now at all, super rare car. :)
