Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Looking at the specs and tech data you can get an idea. It's hard to say which is best as I don't know how the other brands do in the test. However the products with VW 505 01, dexos2 give an idea on what they are based on, ones with mb229.51/5 too are ideal. It's hard for me to reccomend an oil without sounding bias/giving too much away

I use edge turbo diesel in my S2000 at the moment which meets Porsches approval

Clarkey, yes could be worth a try, sounds like the oils getting to thin and draining from the hydraulic tappers (assuming you have hydraulics on that engine?)

Got a link to that edge oil m8?
Also found this oil based on those specs you mentioned:-

Ever heard of it m8, seems to be ultra expensive but also very highly regarded, interested in your thoughts on it.

Never heard of it. Spec profile suggests its pretty old as Longlife 98 was made obsolete years ago. Also MB 229.3 is mid tier. MB229.5 is what you want, lowest noack of any spec which indicates good base oils and potentially lower oil consumption.

Stick to the trusted brands. They spend more on development than these companies turnover.

Also the claims are too far fetched to be believable. 10% better fuel economy is unicorn stuff

That edge can be found online easy enough.

New 991 looks bloody good to be fair!

But 140k before you do any options is not far off the base price of a new MP4-12C and you can get an almost new one for right around the 150k mark.

Would like to see a review compare these two rather than the GTR.

There really aren't many options to put on a Turbo S anyway, it's pretty stacked as is.

They're not going to want it compared to the MP4, there is simply no greater supercar this side of $500k that even remotely competes with the MP4, it's an absolute masterpiece in quality, comfort and performance. I'm a huge Porsche fan and have owned an awful lot of them but the 991T or TS isn't going to be better than the MP4.

But its better than a car that costs half as much ;)

How about the Aventador in your sub $500k category? Not as tech-laden or comfortable as your MP4 but man I want one so bad  (Roadster in verde as I said before :p)

Oh I agree, that's exactly why they'll compare it to a GTR, it is its true rival. Now the 991 does of course have a far better interior now, one which will at least help to make some of the extra money over the GTR seem worth it.

The MP4 and Aventador are pretty close but the MP4 is slightly quicker, handles FAR better and is immensely more comfortable. It does lose on the wow factor though - a friend of mine has a blue one and it's just stunning, so much presence and drama. It's also $150k more than our MP4 so.... I'm too poor for that :D
