Rare Riviera Blue Porsche 918

From the article:
The Riviera Blue colour is arguably Porsche’s best looking colour, dependant on the model it’s featured on of course! A slightly lighter shade to the Voodoo Blue, the Riviera Blue colour is rare to come across with only a few Porsche’s in this colour being up for sale.

Went to Northway Porsche today. The guy that owns it (Ray) is such a top bloke. Always happy to chat about all things car related. Going there is like an aladdins cave. I saw a 993 Turbo S he had in for repair :cool::cool:

As it's got no additional cooling and done 75k miles I'd be expecting there to be some scoring, could also be why it's cheap.

Spec is good, it does look very tired but its a old car with high miles.

Thanks for the feedback on the cheap 997.1, I have thought about it and decided it's a better idea to increase the budget and get a 997.2 C2S PDK as it is more suited to what I am looking for and comes with less risk.

Got my eye on this car which seems cheap due to the high mileage, however with my low mileage and getting an OPC warranty I don't think it will be an issue.

The thing is that you will pay more upfront for a 997.2 over a 997.1 but you will get much of that back on resale and you will save a fortune in running costs as the 997.2 is much more reliable.

The car you lined to is a good spec, miles are a bit high but ok.

Me, I would be trying to get this car down to £38 to £39k.

When I lived in reading, Ray used to take care of my car. Never had a bad service there. Used to hate waiting for a bloody train to get to work though!! :)

Got my eye on this car.

When buying a 997.2 from a dealer is it worth getting a pre purchase inspection? I rang the porsche dealership closest to the car I linked in my last post and they will only do 111 point inspections on site, if an inspection is worth it then can anyone recommend a company that would inspect the car at the dealers location?

Ask the dealer to drive it there for you, the specialist I got my 911 from did this on the provision I paid for the inspection even if I decided to not buy the car. Fair enough! :)

I will give them a call tomorrow and see if they will do that as it would make things a lot easier :)

Interesting day had completing mystery shops on dealers which included a visit to a Porsche Centre (porsche were behind the shops). Having not driven either a Porsche or anything mid engined it was a delight to take out a PDK equipped Cayman, whilst not all that fast it was such fun even at under the posted limits & the Porsche instructor who took me out was great.

I spec'd up a car to £55k, now to find away to own one! The birth of my first child in a month might put a small delay on things but it won't be the end of this story.

Even received a decent wedge for my troubles :)

Nice! My wife does mystery shopping but it's usually womens clothes and restaurants. You get free meals and samples out of it. Where can I sign up to a Porsche mystery shop!?

Not as easy as it sounds tbh, talk to 4 dealers abouts cars with a set spec and see what discount they offer and get evidence of it then make a return visit and ask for further discount. My scenario was for highly spec'd SLK, Z4, TTS & Cayman bought with cash - who in their right mind is going to drop £45k in cash on a diesel SLK?!?

The whole thing about the gt4 seemed mad to me, restricting supply quite so much given the demand, residuals were always going to be good... And that thing about too many cars being ordered in the most popular colours and suggesting people will have to change if they want to keep their order.... What happened to giving the customer what they want?

What spec do you want for your car Housey?

OT but I saw a mate yesterday, just got a 987 Cayman S (the 3.4 I think) with PDK, will be letting me have a go in it sometime soon.... Pretty excited, not driven pork before :p
