He's gone.

'Robert Mugabe removed as leader of Zimbabwe's ZANU-PF party.'

This is an amazing era. To date, I have witnessed:

* the fall of Augusto Pinochet
* the fall of Nicolae Ceaușescu
* the fall of Ferdinand Marcos
* the fall of the Berlin Wall
* the collapse of the USSR
* the end of the Cold War
* the end of South African apartheid
* the fall of Saddam Hussein
* the fall of Muammar Gaddafi
* the fall of Hosni Mubarak
* the death of Fidel Castro
* the fall of Robert Mugabe

So I'm guessing whoever takes over from Mugabe, the "white" farmers won't be getting their land back nor will "Zim" return to being the bread-basket of Africa...?
Actually Mugabe's most likely successor (his vice president) wanted to bring back the white farmers and restore relations with the IMF, that's why Mugabe went full retard and decided his wife should be his successor, which is what lead to the party seeking his removal.

It's highly likely that guy will end up running the show in his place.

*EDIT*

And apparently that's exactly what just happened lol.

Anyone who thinks he's going to just back down is underestimating him. He'll never back down or give in he'll have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. He's a vicious ******* who doesn't brook any opposition. He's charming at first until he thinks your being disloyal then his vindictiveness knows no bounds.

Yup. Still hoping this will have a good outcome despite the unfortunate number of "old guard" still in positions that wield power :s

But this time the army is against him. Without the army, he's screwed.

All the shuffling of paper and the worried looks from the military tells you he refused to read the bit they'd written for him about packing it in.

What an ignorant thing to say. His brutal dictatorship which caused countless innocent lives to be lost is clear for all to see.
