Possible Middle East solution?

We should send David Cameron in to broker a peace settlement.

He could go to the Israelis, tell them exactly what they want to hear and they'd be happy.

He could then go to the lebanese and tell them exactly what they wanted to hear as well.

Voilla - everyone happy.

The only *slight* fly in the oitment is if he actually has to commit to something.

I think if somehow the world opened its eyes to the bigger picture. That we're on this world together, and nothings going to change that, so we may aswell get used to it.

I think something like defending from an alien attack or something would unite this world.

The only real solution is to simply relocate israel. It was us who put them there in the first place and we seem to get away scot free from that fact. What is Holy Land? Why not simply relocate israel but allow peacful pilgramage the most holiest of sites.

Let us not forget in the current situation Israel is the aggressor. We stole that land from the palestinians how could anybody not expect them to want it back.

My simple three step plan for peace in the middle east.

1. Remove Israel from the middle east.
2. Stop trying to force western beliefs on middle eastern countries. They have their own laws and must be respected.
3. Stop invading countries for oil. Weapons of mass destruction can only be used as an accuse so many times.

Where do you suggest relocating them to?

Even if we did they will still be targeted with things like this.

If you want to know what the holy land is then read the book of Exodus in the bible and you will see

1.Build a time machine.
2.Go back and kill Hitler before the rise of the Nazi party.

How would that provide a solution for the problems in the middle-east?

Possibly make the holy bits a UN controlled international zone?

True, Israel was kind of dumped on the middle east, but that's no excuse to be terrorising them.

And I'm almost serious - a drinking session has got to be fairer than anything involving guns, tanks, bombs and mines.

The solution seems very simple to me: sit back and wait for the oil to run out. Everything up until then can be damage limitation. Without oil, there's less dosh sloshing around to be spent on weapons, less room for grandstanding and powerplays (ala Iran) and perhaps the realization that they aren't the greatest people in the world.

(yes I realise the wording is rather cavalier, but this is GD after all ;))

I don't see how there can ever be peace - there are too many muslim/arab hard-liners who will never tolerate Israel being there. You could solve the current crises, but we all know it would just kick off again in a few years.

The only thing I can think of would be for Israel to give back all the disputed land they captured in previous wars (West Bank, Gaza, Golan, etc), then for a UN buffer zone to be created all the way around Israel. It could be like a 10 mile deep "no mans land" all the way around Israel that is under the control of the UN.
Then maybe some sort of agreement, through the UN, whereby Israel would promise not to take any more land or bomb neighbouring countries, if Iran and Syria stop funding and supplying extremist groups.

I doubt it work for very long tho.....something would happen to kick it all off again

If some are implying that, there will never be peace in the long run in that region, then is it worth it trying to offer a solution at all? Aint this a waste of time and we should just leave them to kill each other and let god sort them out?

Nuke Lebanon more.

Remove terrorists.

Job done.

STFU.

Lebanon if anything is the pinnacle of what should be in the middle east - well it was anyway. It was a country almost unique in the middle east, where muslims and christians lived side by side in perfect harmony. Lebanon was principally a christian country originally. But it just proved that they could live in harmony. If anything Christianity and Islam are very similar and share a lof ot fundamentals. It peacefully got it's independence from France in the 40s. Then the ******* Israelis started to flex their muscle and screw up the balance because they CAN'T live in harmony with everyone else - hence why so many poor palestinians had to exile to Lebanon - which those blood thirsty ***** decided it was their right and their jurisdiction to carry on into the borders of Lebanon, with absolutely no thought of the indegenous people. Obviously 100% supported by the States...

here here. Considering it's not their land in the first place.

Dammit I promised myself not to get involved in "debates" (hardly a debate when you're all so bloody ignorant) with you lot on this subject on here - this is my last post in this thread.

I quite like this idea, sadly the West wont allow it to happen especially the american govt as they have too many jewish interests at the heart of their economy and govt.

Rubbish, Israel are as much a terrorist force as palestine, only they do it with war planes given to them by america.

I have often wondered exactly why America had such a large invested interest in Israel. Their Jewish population is a minority, the Bush administration is clearly Christian and much of their legislation is controlled by the religious right anyway. In fact, the more I look into, the more i am convinced their only interest is to have a bastion in the Middle East

"All"? Charming ;) Though I know what you mean, on other forums that I post on regularly I've had some spectacular arguments with people who had no idea what the hell they were actually arguing about.
