Lol :D, with Fiji despite wishing for more info and I still think a paper launch might have been a good idea in the face of the 980 Ti launch.

That aside, quite looking forward to the AMD E3 PC event. First of it's kind and new GPU's to be announced there. In the longer scheme of things its all good.

Can AMD dethrone Nvidia though? Is 4GB HBM enough? Not long to find out !

I can see me ending up with an AIO cooler as well. I hate the bloody things and a real PITA to chenge them about when running comparison vids but I can handle that if the price is right. Also will be done on a 1080P monitor, as I doubt my Swift will play nicely with the Fury (same as the 290X didn't).

Just had a look at reviews for the 8GB 290x and apart from shadow of mordor @ 4k (and even then the difference is rather small), there is **** all difference in FPS in every other game at 4k with max settings :p

imo, when using a "single" gpu, 4GB is enough @ 4k as you are going to run out of pure GPU grunt long before the vram affects FPS/performance.

Now come to frame times/latency, it might be a different story although I can't see any reviews that look into this...

We have the headline and intro adjusted because AMD's Matt Skinner was not talking about the fastest graphics card, but the world's liveliest Chip: "HBM Enables us to build the fastest GPU in the world", the Vice President said literally on the AMD press conference.

By the same token winning the lottery enables me to buy a mansion. :p

Thanks for that Nexus its what i was seeing too. I think gsync and freesync have been a far better investment by a mile for all users including 4k than 4gb of extra vram.

We are already starting to see games reaching, sometimes exceeding, that amount. While 4gb is probably enough for most users at the moment, its more than likely going to be sub par in 6-12 months.

As for Roy blocking Greg.

Personally I find that ridiculous, Roy is a spokesman for AMD and yet the moment he hears something he doesn't like he blocks it.

Imagine if Matt did that on here, any thread he started he would only ever get to see a tenth of the replies. It smacks of sticking your thumbs in your ears and saying I cant hear you over and over.

Don't worry you will still get your wish, on the 16th of the month.

Personally I don't expect to see cards in (OCUK) customers hands till July at the earliest.

Gregster is an AMD 290X owner too !!!

I was going to quote the 4GB is enough stuff from various people, but I see there is already so much of it.

I do have to ask though, if 8GB is not needed, why will the 390/x both have it. ;)
