Gregster is an AMD 290X owner too !!!

Well I was but I spent my hard earned cash on a 290X, gave it a great review and will be spending some more hard earned money on the Fury. I honestly am not fussed and Roy is free to block whoever he wants. I am only a customer and nothing more.

Mayve Roy would send me a Fury X to set against the TX to show how it beats it

I agree that 8gb isnt needed and 4gb is enough... but if you are going to splash out £400+ on a new GPU, you want it to last the next few years and in a few years you will want 8gb.

Whoosh again.

Someone makes a joke and you always have to reply with something serious like a robot and require the last word.

I have right to reply to a joke and even more so when im mentioned and the last word never even entered my mind, just shows how wrong you were.

And seeing as you are hung up on last words even when someone makes just one reply, ill leave you to do just that.

Lighten up bud, I was only joking and didn't mean anything by it :)

I do have to ask though, if 8GB is not needed, why will the 390/x both have it. ;)

epeen ;) :p

If people plan on going crossfire/sli at 4k, then 8gb on each gpu is definitely needed imo although isn't dx 12 suppose to stack the vram instead?

Thanks for that Nexus its what i was seeing too. I think gsync and freesync have been a far better investment by a mile for all users including 4k than 4gb of extra vram.

Yup, free/g sync will be a much better investment than having more vram imo as well, any stutters that you might get from lack of vram would most likely be covered up with sync tech.

We are already starting to see games reaching, sometimes exceeding, that amount. While 4gb is probably enough for most users at the moment, its more than likely going to be sub par in 6-12 months.

Perhaps... but no way of knowing for sure tbh, although in 6-12 months, 290/290x users will most likely need to upgrade any way due to lack of GPU grunt, not VRAM limitations, I am starting to struggle with maintaining a constant 50+FPS with max settings in a few of the latest titles despite not being any where near 4GB VRAM usage. The only game from my experience that has needed and benefited from the extra vram has been SOM. Although like I said, we really need frame latency/times graphs/benchmarks in order to truly judge the benefit of having more vram.

vram usage largely comes down to how well a game has been optimised too i.e. the witcher 3, a lot of the textures look extremely poor but some textures do look very good and it uses **** all VRAM, this is about how much vram TW 3 uses with everything on max @ 2560x1080:

GTA 5 has better textures than SOM (heck everything in gta 5 is better looking :p), bigger world as well I think (?) and it uses less vram.

Not sure about dx 12 but will that lower/increase vram usage?

To think people still argue that AMD don't do enough marketing.

We heard absolutely nothing about 980Ti pre-launch just got a bunch of reviews and it was available in shops straight after the NDA expired, how many pointless "oooh look at the body on this" videos have AMD released now?

Its getting better, i like all these little spinepets, power-consumption, vram amount confirmed, and a hint at performance.

The fact it is still coming out and has not been delayed (after seeing the 980ti launch) I suppose shows that they are still confident in its performance/price.

Wonder what the mystery port is? Just a design thing, ventilation or something else?
