It won't matter even if they beat 980Ti by convincingly, as people will be out in full force to say 4GB is not enough for 4K :p

People have been saying that for months already, 8GB was used by the AMD fanboys as the primary reason to recommend 290X over anything NVidia had to offer if you gamed at more than 1080P.

It's going to be dubious to say the least if those people suddenly start claiming that 4Gb is enough just because AMD have dropped the baton in their rush to HBM.

Did you read what you linked? They stated the Nano will be the highest water cooled card.

Also if the flagship is as fast as TX/Ti, then the cut down version (Pro) is easily faster than even custom 980 cards.
TX is faster by 30-32% so taje away 10% for the cut down, its still 20% faster

Yes but not sure if Nano will be the flagship, it not confirmed. Look at AMD chips in the past, the flagship chip always codenamed either XT, is there is a higher end version then it codenamed XTX.

If Fury Nano turned out to be the flagship then it will come with 4096 shaders, Fury XT with 3456 shaders and Fury Pro with 2816 shaders then Fury Nano 8GB HBM launch in August. Prices would look something like below.

$999 Fury Nano 8GB
$899 Fury Nano 4GB
$799 Fury XT
$699 Fury Pro
$599 390X
$499 390

Why would you want the very best card as the smallest ? seems a bit silly as you would want a beefy version as your daddy card ?

Are we talking smallest in terms of RAM or in terms of physical size of the card?

It's gonna be short (only 19cm I believe) because there is no need for a longer PCB with HBM and CLC cooler.

Not sure if air cooled Furys will also have short PCB. I'm guessing yes. Metal backplate and cooler will extend over the PCB.

AMD Fury to have 3 flavours?

Probably accurate, maybe AMD wanted 3 flavours like Nvidia had with GTX 980, 970 and 960.

Sorry to correct you, but it would be nothing like the 980, 970 and 960 as they are made with two different chips.

More like the 980, 970, 960ti( which we haven't seen yet and supposedly still a GM204 chip) or 7970, 7950, 7890xt which were all Tahiti chips.

Anyway it does seem interesting and not completely implausible that AMD would try to get three chips out of the one die, it allows for binning/harvesting for faulty/not as good cores.
The only thing I do see though, if the rumours are true and the top card is just shy of the 980ti and the other rumours are true that the 390/x'sre rebranded290/x's or even if there not for that matter.

That would put the 390x just above the 980 which is 30% slower than a 980ti, so that leaves us with a 25/27% gap to squeeze in the three new cards.

Something just doesn't seem to be quite right.

Maybe its three cards the full fat, cut down and dual chip coming in august to clarify the 8GB rumour.

Not long to wait now.

I just hope it is a launch and here are the cards and not a launch and they will be available in 3 weeks time, with that being when they can then be preordered for delivery in another 3weeks.

Thinking about it I expect it will be like the TitanX and 980ti, very limited supply available straight away with more trickling in in the following weeks.

7870XT (Tahiti LE) 1536 Shaders 256Bit Bus.

Sorry to correct you :D

So rumoured spec,

128 ROPs: Titan X = 96
256 TMUs: Titan X = 192
4GB / 8GB HBM 512 GB/s / 640GB/s Bandwidth: Titan X = 336.6 GB/s
8.5 GFLOPS Floating Performance: Titan X = 6,144 GFLOPS

Less pessimism and more excitement plz, this card could be an absolute monster !

9 days to go.

Surely if they release the flagship card at 4GB but confirm or the rumours heavily point to a 8GB card to be releasesd around 8 weeks later, they will have customers continue to sit on the fence/lose customers to Nvidia and the customers that buy the 4GB flagship will feel shortchanged 8 weeks later.

I want a brilliant card, i'm willing to spend big to have one. But I won't be able to wait for August. 980Ti SLI is looking like a serious option to me, but i'd much rather a single card.

I'm pretty sure if the performance is there that 4GB won't be the thing that holds people from buying. If it's a Titan X beater or performs similar for less money it will sell regardless of 4GB VS 8GB HBM. I imagine the 8GB HBM card (If we do get one) would carry a heavy premium, so people might opt for the 4GB card with the view to moving to a bigger amount of HBM next year when HBM 2.0 is on the latest cards.

4096 Shaders.

+ 45% Shaders
+ 100% ROP's
+ 80/100% Memory Bandwidth

#2x + Tessellation Throughput
#Delta Colour Compression
#Texture Compression

How something like that can be slower than the 980TI makes no sense to me, its a monster!
