The second is highly unlikely...the TitanX performance is known for 3 months for everyone, and i bet amd knew it months before that...so while there's a slim chance that they waited for two weeks before release and just now started to fix the performance, i really doubt that. They had a good few months to tweak the cards.

For me the 980Ti early release and price tells that NV trying to grab sales and users before Fiji hits the market because they knew it would hurt their sales

Pretty much how I see it, if AMD were crapping themselfs they would have rushed to market if anything because investors and share holders would have made them.

If as I suspect the Fiji to be as awesome as we have been told it is then they are happily waiting it out because they know they have a winner, by how much of a margin is not yet known but if they can put a price of $800+ on the card with confidence it will sell. Then it HAS to be faster than the 980ti or Titan X by a decent margin.

Either way by the end of the month I will either be buying a 980Ti or Radeon Fury.

All the speculation is getting boring now. I just want these cards out so everyone can shut up about em :D

Aha but now everyone is arguing about speculative performance. Once the cards arrive, the REAL arguing can begin. 4gb is/isn't enough. Which card is hottest. Which card uses most watts. Which card is the loudest. Which card is better at 4k. Which CEO's poo smells the sweetest. Etc etc.

Nothing new, it was far worse a lot of years back. At one point this subsection was locked for a few days due to the amount of rampant idiocy on display. I still find it utterly moronic that people leap to the defence of a certain product and try and find any little dip**** checkbox feature or review that puts it on a slightly higher plateau than the card from the company they don't favour.

I understand it abit, when you invest some of that hard earnt money into a pc system which took you time effort and money to build you have a sense of satisfaction and may be some what proud of it. So when other users down talk or sort pf **** off components in that system your proud of it kinda gets you defensive as you cherry picked the components for your own reasons. Its same if youve been with a certain manufacturer or brand for years because of your own reasons normally cos u find them good. Then some user takes a jab or bash at them. Makes you want to defend them.

But not defending what we see on these forums as some users are just pathetic sometimes and childish. But hey what can you do you get these ppl sometimes.

Well, if you needed any better proof that Radeon R9 390X is in fact R9 290X rebrand, then XFX comes to the rescue.
XFX Radeon R9 390X leaked by XFX..

Apparently the best place to look for leaks is the XFX website. The Radeon R9 390X, which is in fact slightly faster R9 290X equipped with 8GB memory, can be found on their website under .. R9 290X product page.

The packaging does not tell us much about the product itself, but it is without a doubt the R9 390X with 8GB GDDR5 memory. The card comes with free Dirt Rally, it has unlocked voltage and brand new cooler with diamond-shaped texture. The cooler is equipped with 7 heat pipes.

XFX Radeon R9 390X has four display outputs: DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort. The R9 390X is supposedly based on Hawaii silicon with 2816 Stream Cores.

Radeon R9 300 series are expected to launch on June 16th.

Aren't these two statments in the article contradictory?
'if you needed any better proof that Radeon R9 390X is in fact R9 290X rebrand..'

'The packaging does not tell us much about the product itself.'

So he can tell just by looking at it that is a straight up rebrand? How do know we this isn't using updated GCN etc?

Whole thing is confusing.. I get AMD's silence on the new high end stuff but regarding things like it is annoying. Things like this might do more harm than good, say if they aren't pure rebrands but by the time they launch everyone will think they are anyway..

So maybe it is just a new sticker on the card and box and that's why AMD are silent about this..

Oh well an 8GB 290X / 390X at a good price isn't a bad thing. Price can change everything.
