The way I see it, if the GTX980Ti was in proper stock (with aftermarket coolers etc) there would be no one left to buy the Fury (X - Turbo- Light - MILF edition etc whatever its going to be called) par three or 4 people here.

I really hope AMD do something groundbreaking and I wouldn't mind swapping TBH but I don't see it happening easily.

For reference GTA V, Witcher 3 and BF4 I think are some of the most played games so I would like to see frametimes and min FPS for those @ 4K to decide. (If more than 4GB)

But you're assuming that the rest of the world would part with their money just as easily as you, without waiting to see the next card in mere weeks. I assure you, most of the buying public are not like that.

It's clear Nvidia have totally panic rushed the 980ti, I guess desperately trying to claw in as many sales as they can. So panicked that they don't even have the cards ready for sale. Still, I suppose people will pre order.

Buying a 980ti right now is pretty daft. Especially when the Fury could cost the same yet be faster than the X.

If Fury is as good as I am starting to believe it is then Nvidia need all the sales they can get because their next gen is still miles away.

It's not just TwsT that I've seen thinly veiled hints from either. Last week some one was berating the Fury for only being 4gb and TTL made a post saying that it totally wouldn't matter.

Honestly if it really was a problem then I'm pretty friggin' sure that AMD would have gone back to the drawing board.

I think after TTLs review where he found the 980 Ti to be faster than the TX I don't think we should take any hints of his as good.

I am also laughing at the fact that he thinks the Ti in 980 Ti should stand for Titan irrelevant, I wish someone could tell him about 2160p and higher.:D

If I was a scientist I would say that even though you can only get one pint into a glass, there is nothing to stop you emptying 15 pints out of the glass.:D

Positive thinking, I like it!

Hmm, is it a coincidence that one of the Titan X's is now on sale for £800 here? Trying to clear stock before it truly becomes irrelevant? :D

That's what I imagine, but because of the 980ti, not anything AMD might do.

Most people simply don;t need a 12GB card when a 6GB option that can keep up will be so much cheaper.

Even at £550 the 980ti is still £250 cheaper than the Titan X offer, and £350 normally. Some have gotten the 980ti for £522!

If Fury launches at £600 or less the ti will need to be cheaper.

I get the feeling nVidia will have more margin to move the price down than AMD will have with the fury.

Both GM200 and Fiji are big chips, but AMD have a watercooler to pay for, along with a silicon interposer, and expensive, new, single manufacturer memory, and a new and revolutionary assembly/packaging process.

I feel it's likely that if they want to, nVidia can just reduce the price of 980ti until AMD are losing money on Fury.

I also notice that the EVGA SC Titan X is £30 more than I paid for them on launch day.

I don't think Gibbo is worried about clearing stock as the Titan X and the new Fiji card are not even competitors and address different parts of the market.

The real competitor for the Fiji cards is the 980 Ti and at the moment OcUK can not get enough of them.

Unless you use compression.

I think the frame buffer cap is being overlooked frankly. There's only so much optimisation one can do for memory management and it solely comes down to the game and how DirectX manages the resources. The only potential saving grace is optimisations present in DirectX12, but they're not exactly coming yet.

AMD need to stop this kinda price war with Nvidia, if Nvidia want to cut their margins on their GPU's i think AMD should let them get on with it.

No point in selling anything if you can't make any money on it, Nvidia can do that if they want...

If AMD aren't cheaper they won't sell period, it's better for them to be making tiny margins than none at all.

Maybe (I'm still skeptical that AMD are capable of beating 980Ti) Fury will be fast enough to allow them to charge extra but at the type of prices being rumoured it's not going to make a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things, they need the rest of their lineup to be as strong.
