The R9 380 is nothing but a rebadged R9 285 and it does not use the full 2048 shader Tonga core either. Abosolute fail.

By specification yes, Tonga has the same number of ROP's, TMU's and Shaders as Tahiti, also rumored to have the same 384Bit Bus, what they are not is the same GPU.

208 power consumption, that's significantly lower than the 290X.

980 will be faster though. 390X better at 4K.

You're saying codenames like you're talking about a specific card.

I'm guessing that you basically think the 390X will be a Tonga version of the 290X with 8GB VRAM?

Also, what's with all the HBM hype if AMD aren't actually properly moving to it yet.

Yeah 208W is a odd number, AMD pretty much never have a TDP that isn't either rounded to xx0 or xx5 so I can shenanigans as well.

I Don't know, all i know is on the face of it Tonga is exactly the same GPU as Tahiti, it has the same specifications, but they are not the same GPU.

One is Tonga, a GCN 1.2 GPU with over 2x the Tessellation Throughput, Delta Colour Compression, Texture Compression.... the other has none of those things, it is Tahiti, GCN 1.0, a different architecture. its faster per Shader.

Likewise this has the same specifications as Hawaii, but its not listed as Hawaii, its listed as Grenada, this may indicate that like Tonga is to Tahiti it has the same specifications but is also not the same GPU.
