Its the Chrome finish, covered in greasy fingerprints it doesn't look very nice.

I think a Matt Silver or Brushed Alloy finnish would be better.

I agree that some sort of artwork could look good. I guess the problem is some folks would like it and some would not, also the cost to do it would be a big factor.
