You can't be that emphatic without seeing benchmarks surely? Would you ignore the Fury X if it came in cheaper than the 980Ti and trounced it (or equalled it) in all benchmarks... simply because the 980Ti has 2GB extra RAM?? That would make zero sense.

I'm eagerly waiting to see what happens with the benchmarks... should prove VERY interesting. :)

Yea well i'm not expecting it to absolutely demolish the 980ti. At best probably beat it by 10% but with that much grunt and only 4gb i would suspect to run out of vram in certain games unless HBM turns out to be a wonder star technology where it some how uses less vram in games to the point it can match the 6gb GDDR5 vram of the Ti.
Ofc im waiting for benchmarks i stated depending on price and performance which means ill have to wait for the price then see the benchmarks lol. Hence why i am waiting for 8gb too as if the benchmarks show its a good card then the 8gb can only be better according to how HBM works. Unless they use more than 4 stacks and a different hbm setup. We have to wait and see obviously, and 8gb comes out 2 months later anyways.

Ofc it makes sense just not to you it seems.

Sorry, maybe I misread, but you did say "I'm debating on buying the fury but not the 4gb model"... which reads as though you've dismissed it already.

My point was how does it make sense to buy an inferior and more expensive card (IF it turns out that way, purely hypothetically speaking) simply because it has a bit of extra RAM, when there is no guarantee that will ever be an issue, IF the Fury X has that much more grunt? I've never understood why people are so hung up on RAM... it is absolutely not the be all and end all of a GPU. I'm not an AMD fan boy, I'm purely speculating here, should it turn out to beat the 980Ti across the board. I have no vested interest either way... I simply await the results with much curiosity.

the fire strike bench was leaked earlier in the thread.

slightly slower than tx in standard quicker in extreme 4k

54% faster than a 290x

That's pretty much how I would expect it to go. 4K will see the TX beaten but 1080/1440 will see the TX come out on top. The big problem is VRAM and 4GB being the let down, as someone like Kaap chucking in 4 of these will most certainly have the grunt but with so many games touching 4GB needed just for 1080P, that does leave a bit of a question mark over viability for those looking to go 4K.

How many people who are debating in this thread are actually going to buy the Fury X ?

Boom forgot the 4GB thing...his memory must have ran out.

Was that the 4900 firestrike extreme run? Or was another leaked? Because that 4900 was obvs a 390 pro.

Depends on it's performance, will either be Fury X / 980 TI / Titan X. Still rocking a 7950 atm (switched from xfire to single card as it was nothing but grief).

I was holding out to see the Fury launch but then these pesky people over at Guru3d reviewed the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming. OCuk got an order soon after.

Common sense was on vacation ;)
