Glad to see AMD staying competitive.
The specs are promising on paper; I'll reserve judgement until reliable benchmarks hit.

It's amusing to see fanboys get all hyped up over Fury when a few months back they were promising "I'll never buy a card with less than 8GB VRAM because 4k/future proof".

Joe Macri (the lead engineer on the project) said they improved the memory management which hadn't been touched in years to tune it for 4K. He said they never bothered until now because bigger RAM sizes were always available when needed.

Could all be hype, yes, but I want to believe.

So faster than TX @ 1080, 1440 and 4K... VRAM only chugs @ 5K+

If true that is monumental and means the arch tweaks to memory management are real!

Exactly, and tbh most people don't even use 4k at the mo let alone 5k and by the time 4k becomes more common we will be on to HBM2 anyhow, so really if those leaked benches are infact anything like a real indication then the FuryX will be special.

I'm tempted to hold out for the x2 version, however pending actual real game benchmarks that Fury-X looks potentially too good to not buy especially with a 1440p 144hz IPS panel from Asus to partner it with:)

Another thing, this could also breathe a lot more confidence into AMD, next year could be massive for them once they get the die shrink and HBM2 and could really smash it with Zen cpu's or HBM apu's etc

Yes 390X is faster for sure, coolers improved, quieter and around 5-10% boost over old reference 290X, purely due to increased clock speeds.

But those who got 290X 8GB from OcUK at 299 or 4 GB at 209.99 will be laughing because as I warned months ago 390 series are more expensive but the prices are where they should be. The 290X at the prices I did was giving them away but they were selling at 100+ a day at the crazy prices we did a few weeks back.

still debating swapping both my 8gb's for a fury X though lol.

Leaked benchmarks.

Massive pessimistic... But if that remains true and as suggested the Fury X stock is 10% faster on FireStrike at UHD over a 980Ti stock and that remains roughly true across real world benchmarks (6-10%) - that'll be ridiculously impressive considering its price point..
