I can't wait any longer on this R9 270. I'm going to swipe back the 980 from the other PC and use that until new cards arrive. trust me 270 @ 1440P is not a nice experience.. Whereas 270 @ 1080P isn't that bad.. makes no sense using a 270 @ 1440P when the 980 is just sitting there lol..

Having to go back to the dark side is not good though.. Have that sense of dirty shame that comes with it :p

A few more GTX 980 sales and together we can rule the galaxy !!!

Should have kept a 290 spare.

I'm going to sell all the cards we have here eventually including this 980. I want some new decent proper high end stuff !!

This will do much better than the 270 during the interim though :D

Have used my tried and tested ghetto modding, the 980 Idles with 2 x screens at 28c and load temp is 50c, awesome stuff for a mini ITX.

Boomstick777 you got the 980 then damn well use, no point in cutting off your nose to spite your face in the mean time.

Even i have bought NV cards twice as a stop gap because that was the best low end in the shop at the time.

More and more sites reporting that all but the 390/X will be refreshes of existing cards, with minimal performance increases.

I just want to point out that AMD called the 960 an "underwhelming" release.

It now looks like they are full of ****, because their new cards are going to be about as underwhelming as it gets, bar the very top end.

AMD's marketing dept needs shooting. Perhaps their engineers too :p

plus the 380X might not sell, because anyone with any brain will wait for the 390X instead..

What exactly are you basing all this on?

Why is taking them so long to get these refreshes to market, then? Why not just bang out a rebadged product line a couple of months after the 970 and 980 came out? That's not to say that the 380s will be amazing (they may indeed end up as tweaked 290s), but where's the rationale for the delay?

I think we all just want to be pleasantly surprised. Fingers crossed it still turns out to be the case.

Just look at the 285 release. Took them years to get that to market, and it's barely any faster than a 280.

I wouldn't live in hope if I were you.

The 390 will beat the 970 and maybe even the 980, the 390x should hammer both by a good distance. It's been so long since their last top end cards it would be an absolute shambles if these weren't a good distance ahead.

No, just a logical response :p

There's so little between the 290x and the 980 at the moment especially at higher resolutions it's pretty much a given the new cards will be a decent gap ahead.

If the 380x is a reworked 290x with higher clocks as rumoured it will most likely equal the gtx980. This means the 390 and 390x should be a good bit ahead of the gtx980 never mind the 970.

Indeed. The 390X will have to be a good deal faster than a 980. Otherwise Nvidia will just release the GM200 cards and take bake the performance crown by some margin.

The 390x will be fast i am sure, i just hope the AIO water cooler is not a neccesity.
