The single-GPU card could offer performance comparable to the dual-GPU R9 295X2, which is faster than the GeForce GTX TITAN-X. AMD CEO Lisa Su, speaking at the Investor Day event, in New York, on 6th May, hinted that the product could launch on the sidelines of Computex 2015 (early June)."

THIS IS WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR!

That's awesome, Computex kicks off on June 2nd.

I think this is going to be faster than the Titan X. Yep I think they have done it..

Also for those that don't like water AIO.

AMD's upcoming Radeon R9 390X graphics cards will ship in two SKUs - an air-cooled one, with a moderately long reference design board (though not as long as the R9 290X), and a new Water-Cooled Edition (WCE) SKU, which will feature a very compact PCB - one that could be no bigger than that of the GeForce GTX 970 reference.

Price prediction ... 800ish ? :D

It's going to be pricey if it beats the TX.

Some are saying the top card won't have a normal 3XX moniker, but rather something like Zeus etc to rival Titan in performance / price / separate naming.

I think the naming is anyone's guess atm.

With 4000+ updated GCN cores and 128ROPS with HBM, I think this may beat the TX by quite a margin.

I just don't know if I want to bother switching. Hassle of selling my card etc. Oh well I may just give my Titan X to my boys and grab 390X air cooled for my Mini-ITX..

Presumably the longer air cooled card will just have an extended part of the pcb thats blank to accommodate the heatsink.

Or custom PCB from the vendors.

I'll go air cooled just because my Mini-ITX can only fit one radiator.

If that spec is legit this is a day one purchase for me.

The bar is going to be raised on both teams now, Nvidia set it high with Titan X performance. Next few years should be awesome for hardware nerds, and expensive :o

Can you imagine when Nvidia get hold of HBM 2, and a die shrink..

Monster, I think that will be at least as fast as a Titan-X, at least.

Mate if that spec is legit, it could be a fair bit ahead, give or take in Nvidia gameworks titles.

I'd like to see some specs/review/benches first but I could be up for selling my 2xGTX Titans for one of these if its any good.....

I really like my Titan X so not going to part with it yet. This is looking really positive for AMD, I really like TXAA as well extra stuff for Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight, so not sure if I want sell my card..

If that spec is legit though I'll pick one at launch to have a play with for sure. Just don't know if I can part with my TX lol.

A week or so ago I read a quote where some one said Nvidia could be in trouble. Looking at the spec of the card itself it looks like an absolute barbarian. Then of course it has HBM which right now is a complete mystery. It really could change the performance of GPUs completely and put them in another league.

Personally I quite like the idea of a short card it would make mounting the radiators far easier. I just hope the tubes are long enough to reach where I can mount a radiator stand. If it does I'll be like a pig in the proverbial.

I may even go the air route and stick with that.

Nvidia won't be in trouble. They literally own the market right now.

AMD needs a hail mary and this looks like it could be it. AMD can regain some market share and Nvidia can sit back and enjoy the huge profits they have made with Maxwell and then strike back with Pascal next year.

If AMD can achieve this with 28nm and HBM 1. Imagine when both teams get a die shrink and HBM 2. This is going to be reset for graphics, and next few years will be really good. Finally the end of stagnation.

I do expect prices to be shaken up with this launch from AMD.

980 Ti to occupy current 980 price slot and 980 to drop down to around £350. Also a 960 Ti card as well.

Titan X will likely stay expensive with sheer amount VRAM as the selling point. God knows what AMD will charge for a Titan X killer..

It takes about ten seconds and one release to completely change that though dude. If the 390x is better than the Titan X and cheaper that means Nvidia are on the back foot. They're also miles and miles from their next gen which could leave them a year of complete barren sales.

That's not good for any company. Brand alone is not enough to keep you in sales if your product is no match for the competition. People don't buy worse GPUs just because they are made by their favourite company.

As I said though it really comes down to HBM. Do Nvidia even have any plans to use it in the foreseeable? or are they going to do an AMD and stick to what they know (whilst losing tons of money)?

There's no loyalty in the world of computing man. People will buy whatever is fastest and cheapest. And it's starting to look like AMD will have a product for both areas of the market.

In terms of market share, the effects of this launch won't show until months down the line.

AMD need to do a lot of work just to re-coup what they already lost. Nvidia will just release new cards at that point.

Nvidia aren't in trouble, they played the market perfectly releasing Maxwell high end cards from last September on mature (Cheap) 28nm and have reaped record profits.

This card from AMD looks great, but they have to do the work now and regain what they lost and hopefully some new ground. Historically AMD / ATI have never been this low on market share.

A good GPU launch now will get AMD back on track, but not to Nvidia's deficit. Nvidia will time their next card launch well and adjust pricing. This is how the game is always played, only this time AMD just took longer than normal.

How many times do I have to say this?

They're not confirming it, they are merely just re-spewing the rumours.

This is the M.O. of the modern tech journo. Relay the press release and then segue into repeating Internet rumours.

Yeah your are right it'll be irritating as well if those spec aren't legit. Because then people will act disappointed and could tarnish what is actually another good product from AMD.

'If' those spec are legit we're looking at a monster, but I don't expect it to be cheap. If the card is close to that spec and performance of Titan X. I think AMD still will have a good product if priced right.

Anyways not long to find out now either way..

Off topic, upgraded to fibre broadband today. gone from 1.4mb to 4.4mb ! This is awesome, the time on those huge PS4 / Steam downloads will literally be halved :D

Woot ! (Sorry about the woot :o).

Confirmed: AMD To Launch New HBM-Equipped Radeon Graphics Cards By End Of June 2015

I rarely report on rumors, so it’s been borderline excruciating to withhold coverage of AMD’s inevitable 300 Series Radeon GPUs and specifically the oft-rumored Radeon 390x. Especially in light of Nvidia’s four unanswered releases. That ends today, as AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has finally confirmed that yes, they will in fact launch new desktop graphics cards by the end of this quarter, meaning by the end of June 2015.

Orangey if you don't like threads about possible specs that are speculative, why are you here?

Why not wait until the generic Owners thread appears and post in there. We will both be much happier.

To other posters plz don't let any negativity put you off posting, if you have found a rumour or want to add your own speculation. Plz feel free to do so. Thread was created for this purpose.

Speculate away :)

It's news to me, as I'm sure it is to many others, as I don't visit here every single day and read every single post on every single page in every single thread:D

quite excited that its coming up to the time to upgrade from my 5 year old 570 to something worthwhile so thanks Boom:)

Nice one, no worries that's what the thread is about. Speculation / rumours.

So Orangey doesn't like these type of threads? Apparently can't find his way out of this one.

Plz don't let this put people off posting about rumours / speculating. As once again this is what the thread is for.

We don't know either way. There will obviously be third party cards with different coolers as well.

Yeah, it's possible with all the heat coming from the core / centre of the card, a big enough heat-sink and dual fans should keep the card pretty cool under air.

The Titan X is hardly a quiet card either. I've got used to it but it is def louder than the 980 I had before.

Sure vendors will come up with some decent cooling, Sapphire, ASUS etc. HIS are rumoured to come back with new cards as well. Prob gonna grab a Sapphire card with air cooling. Bring on the benchmarks !

Just remember for every one GPU that I buy, Kaap buys 4. Don't believe that he doesn't get excited, he'll be like a kid at Xmas when the 390X launches, and the subsequent follow up from Nvidia :p
