nigh-on 200bhp on 2 wheels is just insane :p

although what you really need is a ghost rider style 500bhp busa turbo :D

Throwing a curve ball to those commenting on power figures - it's not how much you have it's really down to how you use it and how it puts tractable power down on the tarmac. I know, sounds like a bit of a classic cliché.

My Mille is old hat really in superbike technology terms and has "only" 130bhp.

But with a gearing change, zorst system change, race airkit and ECU chip it's more than enough for the road.

Without blowing my own trumpet, if the fancy takes me and I really start pushing on, there's not much that can stay with me including -dare I say it for fear of raising a few hackles :p - even the latest superbike tackle. ;)

If anyone has either ridden or followed a Mille pushing it on, you will know what I mean.
 
Cannot wait till I am more experianced. Only been riding 8 weeks now. Loving my '03 Fazer 600. Certainly is enough for me. But it is the only bike I have ever been on. So my knowledge is limited.

I love going out on it in the sun. But I have done the odd stall here and there. Have not really learnt how to filter much yet and go past standing traffic.

Quite funny up at Matlock Bath the other day. Here I was sat on my bike in traffic whilst all the other bikers zoomed past me. I know confidence will come in time though.

Just so glad I finally got round to taking my test.

Some of you guys really have some nice bikes. I hope in time I will be able to try something bigger just to see what difference they offer as to me the power delivery and acceleration on the fazer is plenty for me at the moment. I cannot imagine what it must be like on some more powerfull bikes.
 
The 12 is a bit ludicrous for the road if you ride it like a normal bike, ie enywhere near the power band. You can only use the full power in short bursts, but its totally intoxicating when you do.

It feels like its just getting into its stride as a lot of other bikes are running out of steam. At 100 it accelerates in the same way that a sports 600 does from 30. Its astonishing to be honest, and the only bike that the feeling hasnt dulled over time. Its certainly far more entertaining and downright vicious than the Blackbird was, and the only way to ride it slowly is to bung it in top gear and ride it like a big scooter, at which point it becomes a bit of a pussycat lol

I haven't ridden a Busa, though a mate has just bought an 08 so we will have a little swapsies on the next ride out :)

I've been riding for over 4 years now on a XJ6 and now a CBR6. I still sit in traffic, I'm perfectly capable of filtering. I just can't be bothered some times. I enjoy riding so much I don't want the journey to end too quickly :D Driving is just getting from A-B, unless you can afford some thing nice. Riding is pure pleasure. Even if at the end of my journey I face 10 hours of customers bitching down the phone that we can't get documents out in less then 4-5 working days. a lot of accidents happen while filtering and the blame is always hard to pinpoint, so avoid it if you can.
 
Filtering is one of the advantages of riding! I can understand if you feel a bit nervous about it as a new rider, but as long as you're very careful and dont go more than 10mph faster than the cars you'll be fine.

I wouldn't ever sit in traffic unless the gap was too small :/
 
I love the thrill of filtering (yes, there is a buzz from it for me), but then again, I don't do it that often so maybe that's why :p
 
Filter everyday, if theres space im going through it, thats one of the main reasons for a bike to keep moving, Never touched a car and dont ever plan on it.
Cant say I get a thrill from it though.

I do filter but as you pointed out I don't live some where with traffic that doesn't move. I'm sure if I lived in london I would do the same. But some people take stupid risks while filtering. Like riding up the middle of a single carriage way with cars going both ways at 50mph or more during rush hour.

Exactly the type of numpty bikers that give the rest of us a bad name. ;)

I filter, not that often as I'm in a pretty rural area but I do practice it every so often. Especially handy to slip past long queue's of traffic waiting at roadworks traffic lights and end up sat at the front. It's an advantage that bikes have size wise over cars and I would defend the ability to exploit this vehemently.

I could recite loads of stories about filtering and the idiots who see you doing so in their car rear view mirror and deliberatley move over to block you, but I feel this would just take this entire thread off down a different road which it doesn't really need to travel down, so I wont. :D
