Post your bikes thread

Usually I don't bother filtering, but now days I am a very casual rider, since I live 10 minutes cycling from work. Works out faster then a motorbike. Only bother to filter on dual carrige ways with stationary traffic these days. Although every time I see a bike go past me, do wish I lived a bit further away :).

Had a go on my friends K7 GSXR 1000 last night, he is selling it though :( such a beautiful bike.

Damn its so fast lol, dont think I will ever be getting one for the road, I would get into waaay to much trouble :p
It felt so refined compared to mine, kind of what I would expect a modern superbike to feel like, and It was really easy to flick around and get knee down on, Did not like the high tank that much though, feels like a crappy turning circle.
Brakes felt crap compared to the upgraded ones on mine, really was not impressed! for a bike that cant get to silly speeds in such a short distance the brakes dont match!
Would love to have a go on track with one though :D

you think the brakes are bad on that
you should try the one's on a busa they are shocking !!!

I dont know why they do it lol, the ZX12R I went on recently had crap brakes too, really dont understand why they give them so much power but crappy brakes :/

I could recite loads of stories about filtering and the idiots who see you doing so in their car rear view mirror and deliberatley move over to block you, but I feel this would just take this entire thread off down a different road which it doesn't really need to travel down, so I wont. :D

its funny how defensive car drivers get when it comes to this

Over the bank holiday weekend we drove up to the yorkshire seaside town of scarborough. Theres no motorway and its mostly all A roads that are ocassionally dual carriageway

anyway, we were doing about 50 or so on the national limit road, and i saw a group of bikers comming up behind doing about 70 ish. Being a nice open national limit road, they wereny harming anybody , so i made a point of flashing my indicator twice and moving over to the left of the road to let them by. They were really well behaved not taking any stupid risks, and even thanked me for letting them move over

but then some numpty 3 cars up nearly sideswiped the first one in the group as he went by. He then spent the next 3 miles or so sat on the white line, until we came to a long streth of road where the bikers went by anyway, but had to make sure they could cross right to the otherside of the other lane to be well away from him.

I just cant understand this sort of behaviour. These things can do 0-60 in 3 seconds and do 150 + if they want to get past you. They're going to get past you, why get in there way ?

No idea, but its really pointless, Jealousy maybe? :S
On my bike with its roll on speed I would say it takes no longer than a second to get safely past someone.

Maybe it's the same mentality that old people have when they move out to prevent anyone from overtaking. Maybe they're the guardians of the road and are saving some innocent from getting hit by a bike travelling at a crazy 70mph?

True they do it to cars too, They always get a wide berth lol, usually they are doing 40 in a 60 and flash their lights at anybody overtaking them

But usually its 40-50yr old men, maybe its mid life crisis and their wives never let them have a bike? :p

it does annoy me when i make a point of moving over for a bike by flashing my indicators and moving to the left, and then they dont thank me back.

But then i do wonder if half the time they dont do it as they're in a state of shock :D the other half are just rude i think ..

Yea the ones who dont thank are usually the ones with the "I was getting past you anyway" attitude and give biking a bad name.

I always thank anybody who moves over or flashes indicators, but that has not happened around here for a while :( winchester folk are nasty lol.

I always thank, but I rarely see people indicating - with me they seem to just move over. When I'm on 4 wheels i don't indicate - just move over.

What annoys me is when there's a line of cars and most move over and then one stubbon car at the front of the queue doesn't.

Drivers in Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire/Essex are much more polite than drivers in West Yorkshire. Maybe there's "hotspots" of politeness around the country! :D

leicester is a definate cold spot

lopez agrees with me, we've both moved there from elsewhere and were shocked at the generally bad standard of driving there. They all drive like lunatics.

Did well on my CBT today, going to pick my bike up tomorrow.

Went with the YZF-R125, because I liked it, and getting it, got me on the road sooner rather than later, should be ok with the 125 for the time being, and it stops me getting raped with extortionate insurance.

Will post pics when I have them.

Why is there such an incredible lack of cruisers or touring bikes here? Are they just not common at all in the UK? Or is it just the age group of the folks in this forum?
