Post your bikes thread

I said I'd post a couple of pics when I got the bike put back together - so here she is!

And after:

Not really posted in this area of the forum before, mainly just post in the photography bit. Was reading in here after seeing that amusing MR2 thread! Anyways.... thought I would post a few pics of the scooters. Much as I love bikes I'm a scooterist (is that a word?).

Far from practical as it runs on premix, needs 98ron+ fuel and is a bit mad to ride, however its great fun. 22/23hp (SAE) at the wheel all the way to 95mph on the dyno and it weighs less than 100kg.

The more sensible rally scooter. Gilera Runner (AKA the jogger)

What it looked like when I bought it (it was a reclaimed bike from a muppet who didn't look after it or pay off the finance on it):

Right now in the middle of wedging in a Dymag front wheel originally for a Blade, which with SP-1 discs fits almost perfectly into my SRAD/K2 mashup GSXR 750 front end :D It's all coming to bits again this summer though, I sprayed it myself last year and though it's not a bad job, the singlepack clear isn't tough enough for the miles I do... Needs a proper job.

I've got my DAS in 2 weeks time, and will be looking to buy my first bike, and the SV is my first choice.

Very good first big bike... It's a great package for the money, and also very durable- very hard bike to kill :D I think the usual-suspect japanese 400s are better in a lot of ways, but the SV is dead easy and cheap to maintain, and there's endless used parts out there too. If you're going to crash a 400cc+ street bike, the SV is an excellent choice ;) It also holds its value well. Unless you paint it green in your garage. Chuck a little money at the suspension (and no, you don't have to go as far as me!) and it really makes a big difference, the standard parts are cheap and nasty

Did you copy that from the bike makeover show thats on Men&motors? I saw an episode where they took an SV650 over to the USA and some top notch custom builders made it over in a very similar way, in kind of british racing green metallic with the racing stripes exactly the same way you have them.

I remember that show.

They put orange tyres on it.

Those crazy Americans.

The All The Gear No Idea bike had white number boards on the tail and stripes like mine only on the mudguard if memory serves, but in white, and a black frame. With "streetfighter" written on the tail, in case eanyone was unsure. But yes, it was pretty similiar to mine, I was a bit annoyed when I saw it.... It turns out there's a very similiar TL1000 as well. Great minds think alike :) I think it's possible we all copied the same classics... If any doubt though, my photoshops were created on 2nd October 2004 ;)

Bit of a shame, the guy ended up selling it after he got laughed out of all the local MOT stations- it was totally unroadworthy, borderline unsafe. He was not happy at all, and looked into suing the makers of the program, but he'd signed disclaimers etc. It spent about 4 months on Ebay at £4500 then he sold it for £2000, les than it was worth before they rebuilt it, to a guy who managed to get it road legal by basically redoing it from scratch... The paintwork was ace, mind, very good work, but the build was awful. I think I saw the exhausts on Ebay last year.

If anyone's got a copy of the episode, by the way, I'd love to see it...
