Oh dear, thats a fail for me.
Missed a bus lane I was supposed to use to turn left approaching some lights.
Instructor radio'd and asked me to move accross = fail.
Otherwise a good ride he said and id have passed if not for the bus lane FAIL.
Bah! another 140 squids for a test in 2 weeks time.

Unlucky fella :(

I must admit with all the confusion over bikes in buslanes with some places you can use them and other places you can't, I'd probably have to think about that myself tbh.

Nice ride to Tintern and around some of the roads in that area - good fun day :D

Scort.

Just noticed something funny in my last pic:

Can see the compound change on my rear tyre - don't remember seeing that when I had them on the Ninja :p

Scort.

Lovely Bike Scort. I do like them. Maybe I will consider one in the not to distant future.

New to bikes. Have a 03 FZS Fazer 600.

Really want to have a go on a sports bike just to see what all the fuzz is actually about.

Thanks :) I always wanted an R1 ever since they did the under-tail cans version, think it’s the headlights that did it for me :p I can certainly recommend it though, it’s just a user friendly as my old 636 Ninja was, but has the ability to scare you ****less too – helps remind me that I’m still a learner.

I checked out your Fazer, looks mint; aren’t they supposed to be an unfaired R6/R1, so not too far off the performance of the sports/super bikes? If so, then you’ve got a great package there, all the fun with the added bonus of a more upright seating position.

Sports/super bikes are great fun in my book, I guess it just feels like a more focused/involved ride that makes them different, and they’re a great workout for body and mind too – but the same could be said for most bikes I guess.

Scort.

Bad luck on the test. I have my module 2 on Wednesday...

Didn't your local rider school point out which lanes were open to bikes and which were not? I ask because where I am none are open to over 50 cc, and as a result the question has never come about. But you've got me thinking!

One of the the test routes in my area has the hill start very close to a bus stop, and the instructor (yes, there is only one still!) will fail you if the bus is parked picking up passengers when you start off.

350 miles or so into ownership of my RSV, my opinion on sportsbikes is currently:

They're awesome, but they're painful in town if you're used to something more practical. Can't carry **** all on them, nowhere near as easy as you can on anything with a topbox anyway.

But when you're on good roads you forget all of it and they're amazing :D

I think the RSV is a somewhat extreme example too, the clutch is very heavy, as it's a big twin it's pretty lumpy at slow speeds and downright painful in 30 limits/traffic. Awesome when you open it up though.

I reckon I'll keep it 18 months/two years and get a 950 adventure, hopefully I'll be able to afford one then.

You should definitely own a sportsbike at some point though, they're the thing people think of when they think of bikes, and it's nice that people stop and stare at the RSV when I go past or when it's parked up

Every time I sit on it it feels strange at first, having my arse the same level as my hands. Soon as I pull off it's fine, it's just so alien to me it still throws me when I get on it :D

A couple of observations I found on that trip :-

  • The Mille can tour two-up!!!!
  • In reasonable comfort!!!
  • DMH frame mounted crash mushrooms are perfect places to hook a cramped right leg over to get the blood flowing again
  • Sports panniers fit and you can carry a pillion on the bike with them
  • Oxford Humpback Tankbag is an essential, as its raincover is
  • Tyre pressures matter. "Up" them by a few PSi and all will be well
  • Scottoilers are the business!!!
  • When fully laden up with throwovers and tankbag, the bike seems very unstable on its sidestand when parked up, especially if its windy. Be very careful where you park - degree of slope/surface etc
  • Oxford Sports pannier rain-covers dont last if you go above 100mph. Lost both of mine on the way back. Flew off on the A9 near Kingussie somewhere, I think.
  • Its very easy to embarrass BMW M3 drivers on the Black Isle road to Ullapool, even when the bike is fully loaded up with a pillion and luggage.

Of course now I have got twin high mount Renegades fitted so panniers are a "no go" for me.

Can live with that though. :D

Great Picture!

Loving the 750 then? :P

Yup tis an excellent bike in my opinion! Unfortunately picked up a puncture on my way home from work in the Diablo Corsa III rear. I had it plugged about a month ago after getting a nail in the middle but now a stone or nail has gone through the tyre and has left a hole on the side of the tyre where it penetrated it (2 punctures in a month :(). So going up in 30mins to get a new tyre... any new recommendations I should know of?

Other than that I'm not sure I can afford to keep it running any longer! £750 insurance with £1000 excess... on a £250 a month wage? Gulp is all I can say...

Anyone looking a great condition GSXR 750 with 4500miles on it then? :p

Ouch, thats nasty:eek:Just had my quote for this year on my 750 and it's coming in at---------------------------------£145 F/C with £350 excess:cool:
Mine is older than yours though.

I suppose thats the benefit of being old though:( (39 going on 40)
Your premiums should start to drop, if you have no claims though.
